Why Are Strapless Wedding Dresses So Popular?

Recommended Posts

@@ReneeSpenser  - everyone is entitled to their opinion. if strapless dresses aren't for you, then don't buy one. but kindly refrain from bashing other bride's choices or styles just because they don't fit with your vision. that's just unnecessary and mean.

I agree, while everyone has their own opinion on what best suits them, there are a lot of women who wear strapless and wouldn't want to feel their dresses were considered 'ugly'.  That's the beauty of choice!  You can wear what you want and what you feel best in.   Also, any strapless can be made to have sleeves, so win win!  When I set out to get my dress I said I didn't want strapless whatsoever, and oddly they are the only ones I felt I looked good in!

When I started shopping I actually wanted something with straps or cap sleeves. I don't think strapless are ugly but I just wanted something a bit different. I thought straps were gorgeous but as I started to try on dresses I realized strapless was more my thing. Being petite meant adding another alteration to the straps because they were too long for me or too wide, taking over 3/4 of my chest. I ended up with a strapless dress. What I'm saying is keep an open mind because you might end up with a dress that you wouldn't have thought you would have liked. I guess if you really hate them then you probably won't get a strapless but please don't bash other people's choices. I'm sure you wouldn't like people saying your choice of reception decor or whatever was ugly.

This is why there are tons of designers and tons of options out there. If strapless doesn't work for you then you don't have to wear it but they obviously work for some women. I personally do not care for lace but it works for another bride I wouldn't knock it.

I DO think if you look at the entire universe of wedding dresses a majority of them are strapless. But the neck and shoulders happen to be a beautiful thing to show off! You could just as easily say "why are white dresses so popular" (white isn't the most flattering color on every skin tone) or "why are long dresses so popular" (some women should show off their rockin' legs).

The point is - we should all wear whatever the heck we feel beautiful in no matter if it has straps, lace, or polka dots. That is my 2 cents :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
