Luckily I will not need to do that. I will talk to my TA about making sure the guests are not labled as wedding guests. When she bought our trip she told them we'd be there for our wedding. I'm pretty sure my dad's receipt didn't say anything about a wedding.

I think we should all consider avoiding things that would make our guests targets such as having the hotel pass out OOT bags or deliver them to rooms. Avoid hanging signs on everyone's door. But then will they just see monogramed cups & OOT bag in the room & make note of where they are? I don't want to ruin everyone trip by being too paranoid.

awwwww, i wish i never read this. that's so freaky, and i feel awful for all the people this has happened to. I would be so upset if this happened on my wedding night, but i would be even more upset if it happened to any of our guests, i would just feel really guilty asking them to come to mexico just to get robbed.

i am working from home and have CBS on in the background. The Insider or Inside Edition just aired a segment about this DW and the couple and their families. crazy!

they also said the resort has not responded to repeated inquires from the show and has still not reimbursed the guests and couple for all of their losses even though they acknowledge that after their investigation it was a plot out of the catering department!!!

Catering dept! Why would they be in the rooms? That's so inexcusable. The hotel needs to crack down on this and I'm so glad that we read articles like this on BDW. It would certainly help future brides to reconsider their location choice if their hotel acted like this!

SO scary too. I have some guests that are concerned with going to Mexico and I told them to just be smart. Bad stuff can happen everywhere, but I was even naive enough to think the hotel safe's were ummm....SAFE!

Ours was only $1500...very small compared to these poor people who got $100,000 taken from them. But still, it completely ruined our wedding night and we will have to remember that for the rest of our life. Something has to give.

OMG Lisa I didn't know this happened to you. That is terrible and on your wedding night..UGH. It's sad that we have to be paranoid and hide things while we are on VACATION to RELAX. Now I'm nervous about Dreams Tulum but I now know to be extra cautious. It's too bad that they get away with this.

I read somewhere about personal travel safes made out of some sort of synthetic material. Might have even been here on BDW. It is small and you attach to a fixed object in the room, such as a towel bar. It was reasonably priced too. I will try to look for it tomorrow and post.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
