@@kmk2016 I plan on sending my STD's in March:) I think it's just the excitement of it all. @@Mangosong that's a great timeline. I think the key is to allow people time to plan and save.

My wedding is a day before yours. I sent out my STD a few months ago and then plan to send the invites and thank you for booking in November. I'm requesting to RSVP by January as that's when the TA requested payment. That gives me time to plan for the number of guests.

I have been wondering the same thing.  We sent save the dates about 10 months before (after already emailing or talking to our guests) and only a handful have booked.  I was planning to send the invitations out early next year.  However I just found out the last day to drop rooms in our room block with out being penalized is 2/21/2015, so I now want to get the invitations out in November so we don't get stuck with extra rooms.

@@MrandMrsBonitto2016 Thanks! I figure, unlike the invite, if I send a newsletter type thing, when someone loses it, because you know one person will, it'll be super cheap (or free!) to snail mail them another copy or e-mail them in PDF as opposed to the actual invite.

I am wondering the same thing. Our wedding is 5/15/15. I was thinking I would try to get the invitations out by Nov. All of our guests got STD's back around July. The guests that are planning on attending have pretty much already verbally RSVP'd (although we are still sending them invites) Is Nov fine for a May wedding?

I sent invites in May for my January wedding. I didn't do STDs. I think November is great :)

@@kmk2016 wow its very impressive that you already have 78 people booked and your wedding is so far away! how did you get them to book?

Hahaha- we got a great price with our TA and made our RSVP date the same as our booking deadline. We then made sure people understood that the price was only for the first 50 people who booked (as per contract) and people just did it... Turned out our TA managed to keep the pricing held for our additional guests who booked by the booking deadline even though we were well over our 50 people! We have 82 now! (Late tricklers).

I'm totally type A and everyone knows it- so I think everyone just knew to book early and save me the stress. We were blown away by the love and excitement shown by our family and friends.... We had hoped for 40 people- 80+ is surreal!

We did STD's in May with a deal that ended Sept 5th. We have had 40 people book and we will be sending out proper invitations in November for our May wedding with an RSVP date in March as that is when payment is due.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
