Speeches?

Recommended Posts

My FH and I don't want to do speeches. We're not the "big party, center of attention" kind of people, so we're trying to keep everything pretty low key. No speeches, no DJ (just an ipod I think), not bringing any extra decor, just trusting the resort with the details. Probably the only modification we're making to the standard package is that I'll probably ask for a single long stemmed flower for each of my bridesmaids so they have something to do with their hands.

I guess if people want to do toasts, I'm ok with that, but we won't be doing organized speeches.

I recommend asking people ASAP if they want to do speeches. When we started asking for an MC we were shocked it took 3 to get a yes! I should have known speeches would be the same. Everyone I've asked on my side (minus my dad) is too shy and wants to drink first. Sigh. I get it cause I'm shy just a little surprised. I don't want to force anyone or make them uncomfortable. Our MC knows he's toasting at the end of the ceremony but I think we will have MC announce anyone who wants to can say a speech, but otherwise may forego asking people. I will ask my dad but he's my last hope! My sister told me no parents did at her wedding either as too uncomfortable.

We have actually decided to forgo any speeched. If someone feels the need to say something then sure, but nothing planned. anything that happens will be spontaneous...and alcohol induced of course

We are going to ask the MOH and best man to do speeches, plus all our parents want to say something which will be three speeches as my parents are divorced and can't do anything together (fun). Then we will say thanks and that will be that!

I think we will just do MOH and BM short speeches. I despise public speaking and am giving myself permission to not torture myself by doing it on my wedding day lol I don't want to take much time with speeches anyway. I want brief words and let everyone enjoy their night. Never thought to ask if my parents wanted to say something...maybe I should. I'll revisit this with the FI later on

We are having a small wedding (under 20 guest). My FI and I will be doing a thank you speech, my father will speak and other than that we are going to go with the flow. If anyone wants to say something they are more then welcome.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
