Hi everyone, I've posted this on the newbie forum but thought it would be more appropriate to post it here as well. We've decided to have our January 2016 wedding at Moon Palace and I'm so excited (16 months to go). I know it's high season during this month but we would love to get away to a hot destination to celebrate our wedding. We've been quoted around $2300 for flight (taxes incl), transfers and 7-night stay. Is this average or is his too high? Should I wait around January 2015 for price quotes, will they be better? Any advice would be appreciated

Hi Wafflesmom!

I was just wondering if you were able to find a better deal for Moon Palace than $2300?

We attended a wedding at MP in January of last year and paid $1699 (taxes incl).

I'm now in the process of planning a wedding and am hoping to get the same rate but haven't had any luck so far...

Please let me know if you find anything good.

:)

Hi @@JessicaBe congrats on your engagement and happy planning!!! We did manage to get a better deal than $2300 but not as good as $1699! We got ours down to $2023 (taxes in, double occupancy) with air Transat. Which carrier did you go with for that price?

We are guaranteed a one time price adjustment if the price gets lower, there is a clause that they can only adjust if there's still space at the resort for all of our guests. I have a friend who paid $1700 for attending a wedding last year in October, and that's low season! So you really got a deal. The nice thing about Palace is that they give $1500 resort credits per room for 7 nights so it was a good incentive for guests to get credits!

Thanks for your response @@Wafflesmom! The $1699 deal that we paid was through Sunwing - they're not the best (our flight was like 8 hours delayed) but they are affordable! It seems doubtful that we'll find the same deal, especially since the Canadian $ is so low... Thanks for sharing your rate though! It's good info to know for comparisons sake.

Sorry you had a crappy experience with Sunwing. I love Sunwing and have never had an issue.

@@JessicaBe you are very welcome! We're all here to help each other out :)

I have seen some lower prices but they're offered closer to the date of travel. For a destination wedding, I couldn't take the chance. Plus, some of the lower prices are offered by Air Canada and they no longer offer direct flights from Vancouver. It was basically a connecting flight that would take up two full days of travel (to and from).

I hope you find a great deal :)

Isn't it nuts they don't offer a direct flight from Vancouver?  Irked some of my BC guests they had to come to Calgary!!! but in the end I think they loved that most of us (over 30 of our 45) were on the same flight.

@@calgarybride2015 it certainly limits the options. I'm always so worried about losing luggage, flight delays and even cancelations so connecting flights were a definite no. Plus it's already such a long flight from Vancouver, why add layovers. And I agree that being in the same flight is more fun!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
