Bridal Showers?

Recommended Posts

My MOH apparently is planning one for me and asked me to brainstorm a little to give her some guidance and feedback when the time comes. I have no idea! I did find some threads that spoke about games and things like that.

Are any of you having one? Any idea for themes? I never cared to do one before but since I'm apparently going to have one I don't want people to be bored out of their minds lol

I planned my sister's last year for her Mexico destination wedding! I had it at a Mexican restaurant with mimosas, margaritas, and brunch and it was great.

She actually didn't want to open gifts at the shower because many of her future in-laws were not going to the wedding and she wanted to spend the time with them versus opening presents. So I asked people to bring their gifts unwrapped and we displayed them on a table - I thought some people would be freaked out by that, but it worked really well and made for a fun event! People had a lot of fun - and appreciated the margaritas quite a bit :)

I also did wedding mad libs for a game. I had 2 different versions and people filled them out in pairs and then my sister read them out loud. I did one mad lib per 2 people just so it didn't take forever to read through them. They ended up being hilarious and everyone loved it. I can find the files and send to you if you are interested.

@@beckys98 I love that! It will save the trouble of going crazy with decor and would be nice to have that Mexican theme since this is where I'm getting married anyway. I don't think anyone will complain about the margaritas either loll

If you can send me the files when you find them that would be awesome!

Did you invite many of the fiancé's relatives? My fiancé has a big family, I surely don't want everyone there lol One thing I dislike about these traditions is the obligation to include people! I would much rather keep it with those closest to me

we aren't having one... my MOH really wanted to give us one but I just didn't feel it was necessary and like you said above, it would end up being a very large group! I do, however, love the Mexican theme. Sounds awesome and a great way to get excited about the upcoming trip!

We did invite the female aunts and cousins on her fiancé's side. We knew they weren't able to come to the wedding (couldn't afford it) and my sister didn't do an AHR, so her shower was really the only wedding event for them. It did end up costing me a bit more than I originally planned, but it was worth it. We actually don't have much family on our side though, so it was nice to have his family there. The shower was about 50 people total.

Let me find the mad lib files and send them over!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
