I Fell In Love.... With A Hair Piece! (Pics)

Recommended Posts

So I've been pretty stressed out lately about my hair.
I have a short bob, which I love, and really don't want to change! I am very much on the stance that I don't want to look like someone else on my wedding day! This is me, why isn't that ok?

I do understand that is leaves little ideas on how to do your hair! I do want to grow my bags some so I can sweep them to the side and not worry about them curling up in the humidity! but my hair dresser suggests I grow it some so I can have some soft curls. I am not totally against it, but I FLAT IRON my hair everyday for a reason, I hate myself with curl!  (not sure how well curls or blowed out will handle the humidity - I don't think I can win!)

None the less, I was considering a rhinestone flower shaped hair clip (in dress thread) but I went into a bridal store today to find some pieces on alligator clips (a comb just wont work) and the lady made me try one I would have NEVER looked twice at. It's a bit over the top for me, but I LOVE it!!! I'm of the mindset, my hair piece can be the WOW not my hair! I am not wearing a veil and feel this can pop with my dress as it's fairly basic in comparison to others. It's $110 which was a large gulp but I am seriously considering it.

What do you think?

The feathers will be cut shorter and the smaller flowers/pearl pieces under the main flower move around as I would want them too.

I really like that head piece! Wear your hair exactly how you want to. Don't let anyone else tell you how you should do it.

Do you have natural curls/waves? If so, you *may* want to think about a keratin treatment or brazilian blowout a couple of weeks before your wedding. The humidity in Mexico is no joke and will bring out any natural curls you have if you aren't used to styling in that climate.

My hair is naturally curly, but where I live I can generally tame it straight. I have no hope of doing that in Mexico though. For my wedding I did a blow out, and never had an issue straightening it there. Other trips I didn't do a blow out and the curls were wild - I end up wearing my hair up most of the time. Just something to think about it!

My hair is naturally wavy and very poofy if I don't blow dry it and just let it dry naturally.

Generally I can get my hair to stay straight somewhat in tropical places, but my bangs have NO chance, hence my wanting to sweep/tack them to the side.

So thank you for your advice.  I have no idea where to find a Brazilian blow out, but I will find out!  What exactly is it?

My friend also suggested this anti frizz product for humidity her hair dresser swears by - she is going to get the name for me. I also won't wash my hair the day of the wedding.

EEK!  first link when I search it for my home town!

I'll see what my salon does when I am there next week!  They have new formaldehyde free versions LOL!!

Love love love it!!!!

Most Calgary salons won't do the "Brazillian blow out" anymore because the chemicals were found to be very harmful, but there are similar treatments they offer that give the same results!

Gorgeous hair clip! You will look so beautiful with it!

I normally go for Japanese straightening but because I'm planning to have an updo for my wedding so I didn't straighten my hair this year.

wish I could see (almost) but as a hair and mua for special occasions I can definitely say that you are spot on and should absolutely have your hair the way YOU like it. I have done a soft wave for women with a bob and its usually very well received but if you don't like any curl to your hair then that may not be the way to go. As for a straightening treatment you certainly want to try one without the harsh/harmful chemicals. Keratin complex by coppola is my favorite and always get good results with it. You can do 2 types of treatments with it: a blowout or the full treatment. The main difference is the blowout is applied the same way but it is blow dried into the hair and you are able to wash it out in 24-48 hours. It doesn't last as long. The full treatment is applied and then flat ironed into the hair. You cant wash your hair or pull it back (headband, elastic, sunglasses, etc.) for 72 hours and can last for up to 6 months. Both cut down on dry and styling time and tame frizz. I recommend that most brides considering it do the blow out first (a few months before) and judge from there. Hope that helps@

@@calgarybride2015 LOVE the hair piece!! You should absolutely totally feel and look like YOU on your wedding day. If you aren't doing the veil, it's great to have something that pops the way this does. It's gorgeous and worth the splurge!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
