Invitations And Save The Dates At The Same Time

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone!

I just booked my wedding a few weeks ago and we have 90 days for everyone to get their deposits in so we've been rushing around trying to get our invitations and everything out so that people have enough time to come up with a deposit.

Anyways, I was wondering if it's weird to send your save the dates and invitations at the same time?  We are doing save the date magnets and our invitations have more information on the resort and has our travel agent's information as well.

If you made the magnets then use them forsure. Wouldn't want you to waste the money. But if not, it seems like overkill. Usually people get save the dates long before the invite but if your guests only have 90 days I would say to focus on invites they are the most important at this point.

I would say send out the save the dates first. Do your save the dates include your wedding website (if you have one)? In most cases that would be enough to get everyone on the ball to begin depositing as you can update the website with all the info they need and spread the word about deposit deadline. Then maybe send invites out later ?

I agree with @calgarybride2015  Usually the save the dates go out first notifying people of your plans and giving them the chance to think about whether they're going or not, and about putting money away for the trip. What about a wedding website for now that has the TA, booking and resort info that you could just keep adding to as you go? Given the 90 day turnaround, I know it sounds tight, but it's actually a very healthy amount of time for people to realize one way or the other whether they're going to be able to attend or not.

The other thing I was thinking..... If you wanted to, you could always include the magnet with your invitations if it's the same people that are getting both. Sort of as a little "reminder" for people since it's something they can stick on their fridge. That way you cover your bases, save on extra postage, which in Canada is NOT cheap and get everything out to everyone to still be able to stay within your deadline!!

Good luck!!

I think the invitation would be fine since it is only 90 days that they have to book, just get them out as soon as possible. I agree with the wedding website though I feel that they are crucial for destination weddings to keep everyone informed. We are 2 years out and we just posted the link to our wedding website on FB and will be sending out the save the dates in the next couple of months. So if you can get your website out to people before the invitations go out I would suggest that, I have seen really nice electronic save the dates on here that others have done.

Agree on the wedding website. Everyone uses ours a lot. And it's so much easier to say the info is on the website! I used mywedding.com and it's free. If you want to check mine out is www.mywedding.com/shawnandkim2015

We emailed save the dates with a link to our website (90 days out). No one booked at that point and we sent out invitations two or three weeks before the deadline. Everyone waited until the very last week, some even the last day. So I say your invitations and website are the most important

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
