Is Anyone Else Going Minimal On The Oot Bags?

Recommended Posts

We are going pretty minimal on them as we spent most of our budget on 20 oz bubba kegs for each guest. We will be putting little bags of chips and a few small things in there but all in all we aren't going too crazy. Is anyone else in the same boat? I see all these amazing OOT bags but with spending so much on the bubba's and the wedding as a whole, we can't afford to make them super full of stuff for 51 people. I hope people don't think we're being cheap!

Nope! No one will think you are cheap whatsoever. They will shocked to have received anything like it IMO -- Honestly your guests will LOVE the bubba's!

I didn't do bags. I did tumblers and stuck inside Advil, emergen c, Pepto 2 pack, Tums, 2 bandaids, hand sani and mentos.

A full bag means nothing if it gets tossed and not used -- so tell yourself that. Focus on what should get used and you are golden. A bag and a bubba and munchies is awesome in itself.

I loved the cup idea. Fiancé loved the hangover kit so we did both and it's limited to what fits in the cup.

Bubba's weren't in my budget but had they have been that's all I would have done! Don't feel bad :)

Your guests won't be expecting anything, so even something small/minimal will surprise them. We're all obsessing over OOT bags because we're researching destination weddings and seeing the amazing ideas on here. Wedding guests have no idea how creative/expensive OOT bags get and will be happy with any gift from you, don't stress =)

Not at all. If i can convince my fiancé to even do anything at all we will probably buy the cheapest tumblers we can find. Just simple ones with no personalization and probably put a few things inside like a hand sanitizer, Advil, some pepto pills and that's it. Maybe I'll add a word finder for each person but It depends whether I can get my hands on cheap ones that come in packages. We are not doing bags because I don't think they'll get used and it's just a waste of money. I'll probably add a tag to the tumblers to make it "more personalized" without adding too much costs. I think it's always the thought that counts so don't be too worried about it :)

We are doing pretty basic as well. Bag, tervis (or similar) cup and inflatable pool mattress (our resort doesn't supply them but sells them in resort store for super pricy).

Then just a few DIY paper projects (door hanger, program, etc) There will be a few beach toys for the rooms with kids.

Go minimal or go home!

Seriously no one wants their hotel vanity cluttered with mini bottles of sunscreen or hand sanitizer.

Instead... write (there's a thought for the 21st digital century) in cursive, a meaningful letter on how they have impacted your life, a good time you two have shared and why you asked them to essentially bare witness to your wedding.

Go get a large container or two of Monin syrup. Prickly Pear is Killer in margaritas

Go get some tiny zip loc bags or similar.

Pour the syrups in the  mini bags. Like a half ounce to an ounce.

Give them to your guests, label them or whatever you want to do.

Allow them to pour them in their margaritas. 1 or 2 per guest.

They will love them, They will use them. they will be happy....

And you can bet they will be begging for more!

Give them that and the letter and you will have an amazing welcome gift.

Cheers!

I hope I didn't sound mean... not at all the case! :) I support everyone's ideas! Always!

I'll be keeping it minimal as well! I want to give our guests something to identify themselves as part of our group so they can find each other - and I'm thinking that'll be a room key/tip money holder. But I think that is it! My sister did hangover kits for her destination wedding, plus a koozie and a shot glass to wear around your neck. Honestly, no one used them because they forgot them in their rooms :(

We'll spend the money on something special instead - probably keeping everyone filled up on jerk chicken and jamaican beef patties during the trip from our favorite local food stands!

Thanks ladies. I was torn about getting more for the gifts as you see the planning threads on here but each one of you is right with the different points you made. That's initially why we spent less too, because we know people would use the bubba kegs 100% for sure (I even got personalized stickers for them :) I've already created a passport style welcome book for the OOT bags, so I think with the snacks and such, we will be good. Thanks ladies, it's always nice to come on here and get advice because you'll actually give it to me and understand :)

P.S- We are getting pizza as a midnight snack for our guests at the wedding which is kind of a surprise, so I guess we are kind of doing something. Our seating chart involves beers too, so I guess when you narrow it down, we are doing stuff for our guests. I just always worry

Exactly!! And your bubba's will take SO much room already. Some ladies went nuts and I'm more on the thought - it's throwing money away if they don't use it. It makes sense to stick to things you know they will use. I picked stuff I always pack for myself and that provides hangover relief. Always though, to each their own :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
