Complete Meltdown - Possible Wedding Cancellation!

Awe hugs, I am sorry you had to make such a difficult decision.  I am glad you were able to figure this out with your fiance and wish you the best of luck moving forward.

Like others have said - maybe do a vow renewal in the DR? or do your honeymoon?

Have you considered other cheaper destinations like Mexico? or is that 100% off the table.

There are lots of great options in Calgary.  I know someone who recently married at Heritage Park, and next week at the zoo. Was a BM for someone who married at the Lougheed House, lots of great ideas.   Even the Deerfoot Inn and Casino for a reception!

We are always here to chat, help out, and the like... please keep us posted.

Now that I finally logged back on... :)

We just booked the last date at Gunn's Dairy Barn in Heritage Park.  We also booked our photographer last night.

So the dream of a destination wedding has ended - now we are just hoping to do a honeymoon soon after the wedding (London/Paris we hope!!!).

Ohh wow! Hate to hear that your DW did come together like you planned but glad to hear you were able to still line up a date. You're still getting married regardless and that's really all that matters. London/Paris sounds like a wonderful honeymoon.

I think the nice thing is that destination or not, you will be getting married and your family and friends will be there :). I love the idea of a DW but if no one had been able to come I would have made the same choice as you :)

I think stampede is overrated haha. I would much rather go to a wedding ;)

I'm so sorry your dream had to be put aside. It's so difficult when you're dealing with family and friends.

But again, when it all boils down, you're still going to be marrying the love of your life and I'm sure you'll have a beautiful wedding!!

Good luck and all the best!

It is really sad to hear that you had to change things around, but at the same time I think that (reading your posts) you have found a way to become more comfortable with your decision. Even though the actual moment itself might have hurt, I think that you have to remember why you did it. Proud of your resolve!

Since I already had a thread going here about our wedding troubles - I'd thought I'd add another little vent.  Even though I am not doing a DW anymore, I'm still poking around on the site - mostly because the support is great, the ideas translate to an at home wedding and the people are amazing!!!

So after EVERYTHING we have been through in booking this wedding - from the DW cancellation, to the scrambling to find another venue, to booking our major aspects.... we were finally all caught up, moving forward and enjoying the wedding process....

-until-

My FI lost his job last week - out of nowhere, technically no cause - no warning.  And BOOM - our household income drops by more than 50%.....

Honestly - how do you get a break in this world? So now I'm debating if I can even feel comfortable putting down a final $400 in deposits (hair/makeup, officiant, dj) when financially, we just took a HUGE hit.

On top of it - he is in an industry where you can't just find any job - its a long process to get a job, and most positions that he would be obtaining are still a 50% pay cut from his previous job since he had worked his way up there quite quickly.... his parents are willing to help, but I hate asking.

Bah... just when you think you're in the clear....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
