Riu Palace Riviera Maya Brides! Help!

Hello ladies!

I'm super excited to have found this website to help with wedding planning.  What a relief to have the help of others going through this stressful but amazing process!  :D So my fiancé and I are VERY interested in Riu Palace Riviera Maya and are hoping to put in a request this week for June 2015 but I was just wandering what others thought of this resort?  Past Brides and Future Brides have any advice for me??  We are looking into the Caprice Package and our guest list will be around 35 people give or take.  I love everything about this package but I wanted to enjoy dancing and cocktails after the dinner and I don't see much information about that.  Is that even an option?  Do we have to rent out a certain area?  Does anyone have an idea of cost if you've done this?  Or should we go somewhere else to celebrate afterwards?  So many questions…sorry!  My fiancé and I are pretty laid back but want to be able to celebrate afterwards with lots of dancing and cocktails.  :D Any advice you could give me would be so helpful.

The other resort we were considering was Dreams Tulum…any thoughts on this?  This would probably be my second choice but I would love any input.

Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to respond!  Congratulations to all the recently engaged ladies and good luck with your planning!

Kristin

I don't know too much about Dreams Tulum, but reviews can be found here:

Congratulations! I am not getting married in Mexico, but my fiance and I have stayed at RIU Palace Riviera Maya and really enjoyed it. It was beautiful with a great location near Playa Del Carmen for things to do - plus exchange privileges at the nearly RIU resorts. We would just walk up and down the beach and pop into the other RIUs for a drink! Food was great, beautiful beach, nice rooms - really no complaints.

Dreams Tulum is going to be quite a bit further from the airport, which may or may not matter to you. I know if you have people just coming for a long weekend that can be a bit challenging on the travel time.

Good luck with planning! Once you get the resort picked it is smooth sailing :)

@@Icis and @@beckys98, Thanks so much for your advice!  I really appreciate it.  @@Icis, I looked through your planning thread and wow, you are so creative.  I love it!  @@beckys98, I agree with you.  I think it would be too long of a commute to Dreams Tulum and that was something I was questioning.  I also like how there seems to be more to do around Riu.  Thanks again ladies and happy planning to the both of you!

Hello Robyn!

Sorry it took me a minute to get back to you.  I actually decided on Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa instead of RIU.  I think RIU is awesome but I just liked Dreams a little better.  My fiancé had talked to someone in the RIU wedding department about having a reception afterwards and it wasn't clearly answered.  I think the only way to do so would be to rent out one of their restaurants.  With the dreams package you get a cocktail hour and a private reception so I just liked that better.  Sorry I couldn't really answer your questions. :/ I hope you get the answers you are looking for!  Congratulations on your engagement and good luck with your planning! :)

Hi Ladies

We are planning our wedding for November 2015 at Dreams Riviera Resort & Spa, we also looked at Moon Palace but we didn't think that was right for us.  Any tips for a trouble free wedding would be greatly appreciated.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
