Maracas will be on the tables at dinner. Had considered using them at the ceremony but changed my mind :) adds color to the tables.

I like that idea, I might have to do that!  Love getting new ideas (my bank account, however, does not)

Trust me! I understand. I changed my mind a lot on some things (started cheap and now spending wildly) so costing me more! Favors were always a Forsure once I bought them. Keep changing my mind on hair pieces, grooms outfits, bridal party gifts (big stress). So I have bought some stuff I may not use and/or have returned stuff.

I know, chances are if you don't put one for every person everyone wants one haha so you might go on the safe side and get one for each :).

I saw some of the popsicle ones on oriental trading. I don't know what is cheaper, if to do them yourself or buy them from there :S. I guess you can personalize them more easily if you do them yourself and in that case they're probably cheaper that way. Our resort gives us fans for the ceremony but apparently they're not great so I don't know what to do.

Don't quote me but I think I've seen the handles at dollarama but I could be wrong. Would be easier to personalize forsure. If we do fans they will be the paper ones but after I just blew my budget hardcore on bridal party gifts I'm sure fans are out lol

haha yeah I think they are last priority for us, after all if the resort does provide them, crappy or not they are fans and they will get the job done. I also keep dreaming of all these things for my fiance to come and slash half saying that we really don't need it and it's too expensive for what it is haha (he's usually right).  What did you end up getting them?

@@calgarybride2015 I was thinking of doing fans on my own, printing a thank you and then a short program on one side.  To really keep costs down, I thought about going to Lowes or Home Depot and picking up some free paint stirrer sticks, and just spray painting them, then gluing the heavy cardstock I print on to both sides.

We ordered paper fans from Oriental Trading (48 fans) and they came in 2 small plastic bags, very reasonable for travelling with.  I have bought gift tags from Party Stuff ($4 for 80 tags) that we will be printing our names/wedding date on and will attach them to the base of the fan.  I think people will be okay with the paper fans and will be understanding that it is difficult to bring such a mass quantity of extra stuff with you.  We are doing a full beach bag with goodies for each guest, so I did not want to spend a TON of money on the fans.

I ordered wooden fans and tied a ribbon in our colors around them . We're going to put them on the chairs for the ceremony to add a little more color. (and to keep guests cool on the beach through the ceremony!)

The large rafia fans or the ones that fold up small?

Honestly, given the price of Oriental Trading's product, your resorts are probably the same if not better quality!  I would use theirs, they are included!

I had the same thought with the "everyone will know each other" so I decided to do something simple on one side like: Music starts

We get married

Everyone parties

and then on the other side we are going to do a little thank you note to everyone for coming. I have seen on pinterest some really cute ones with different fonts. Just an idea to save on cost and space

What are you ladies using the maracas for? During the ceremony, or just including in the OOT bag?

On my maracas will have a tag that says:

'Instead of tapping on your glass, here's a system with Mexican class. Stand and shake with all your might, to see the groom kiss his bride tonight'

Other side is a thank you note.

I think fans are a must for comfort of the guests...its going to be hot and the fans will help alleviate some of the heat..at least that's my opinion.. and I'm pretty sure the men will use them..I'm picking colored ones so it will add slash of color. I also wanted to do the maracas at the dinner table for splash of color but finance nixed that idea :(

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
