I don't think we are doing bachelor/bachelorette parties here - my FI is having his father and brother as GM and they are in Ontario and Texas.  One of my good girlfriends (and hopefully one of my BM) is also in Ontario.  FI also has family (cousins) coming from England.

I think what we may do is plan an excursion or event when we are down in the DR. Or a boys vs girls scavenger hunt or tournament of some sort.  That way everyone can be involved and both sides get to know each other.

We put up a poll with our RSVP on the website to ask if people were interested and how much they would be willing to spend.

@@KAT2015 I like the idea of an excursion with the girls! Just not sure who will want to pay and how many to include - just the bridesmaids? all girlfriends? I like the idea :)

Everyone! They've paid to be there IMO. We are thinking catamaran (booze cruise) or coco bongo (night club).

@@calgarybride2015 Strict rules are a must! At least until after the ceremony! It's just tough to manage when you or other guests will have been there for days already and we all know drinking tends to start pretty early when on vacation lol

I love the catamaran ride idea! I'm currently bringing the idea to me fiancé - he says he really doesn't care about the bachelor party but it's more about his friends looking for an excuse to go all out lol

Exactly!  Vacation where everyone starts drinking the minute they wake up! ha!

Check out coco bongo too - http://www.cocobongo.com.mx/coco2010/inter/main/2/- I said night club but it's so much more than that!  For my peeps who are afraid of boats this may be a fun alternative.

Always wanted a Vegas bachelorette and have planned a few but once we decided on a DW, I don't feel right letting that be known. My MOH (sister) wants to plan it and keeps asking me what I have in mind but I haven't given her a straight answer. My next thought was having it in Mexico (CoCo Bongos :D) but FI and I talked a little about it and I think he is concerned with going before the ceremony and worrying about everyone's safety and behaving etc and timing. We arrive on Wednesday but our guests arrive on Thursday. Friday is rehearsal and Saturday is wedding. I suggested Thursday night but he worries our guests may be too tired from traveling. *sigh*

I can totally appreciate where he is coming from and you do have a tight schedule - I am not sure I would want the party the night before our wedding!  They may be tired, but heck they may be ok with it, could you ask them?

Also, you could go after your wedding and just name the party something else?

We were supposed to arrive Sunday and we marry Wednesday.  When they cancelled our flight we got changed to Saturday, so now we have more dates to choose from. I am thinking Monday - as Sunday is the day we will probably meet the WC and the photographer for final payment, etc. so don't want to worry about much else that day.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
