Who Did You Hire For Photography That Isn't Insanely Expensive?

Recommended Posts

I'm having a hard time believing that 1200+ is anything other than insane for a wedding photographer.

I have already decided we can not afford a videographer so we are having to videotaped from family.

And if i can't find a reasonable photographer, for 3 hours only then I guess my family will be taking pictures too!

Hahaha.

We are paying for the entire night ourselves, and I can not afford another expense of 1200 bucks.

Who have you used and what did they charge you?

There are a variety of levels of photographers out there and some are very reasonable priced. Ones that often get the best reviews are true artists and the number of hours they put in to not only shooting, but editing and preparing your images can be hundreds of hours. If you are looking for someone who is more reasonable you may want to look at shortening the number of hours you have them at your wedding and capture only the key shots... Work alone (two shooters will add to price), and that don't include extras like photo albums or online viewing. I have seen prices as low as $600 and as high as $5000 so it really depends on what you expect in the artistry and experience of your photographer! Check the reviews section and message a bunch of the photographers there whose style you like- tell them your budget and ask if they can build you a package.

@@kmk2016 thanks for the detailed response. Ya I'm not so much wanting an edited version of myself or the night. Just want one photographer to snap some photographs that I can put in a book so my kids will have when they are older. I'm looking to spend no more than 500 for 2-3 hours max.

Does anyone else know of any photographers for What I'm needing? I've contacted a few with no luck!

There's gotta be self employed photographers looking for work.

Aside from the big players with the fancy ads and websites.

Anyone know of any?

Thanks!

We paid $1500 3 years ago so finding someone that is of any quality for $500 for that amount of time? You could always just hand a family member a disposable camera and ask them to take photos. If you aren't worred about quality then you could even buy a new digital camera for less than $500 and hand that to a family member.

But with everything I've researched and looked at for both Mexico now and Jamaica 3 years ago, $500 ??? Haven't seen it. And to be honest, Mexico prices are a whole lot better than Jamaica. Jamaica photographers can get even more expensive!

Is photography not included in your wedding package? You can see if maybe your resort has a house photographer instead of looking for an outside vendor. If they do, just pay for the most basic package. $500 for a outside photographer for a destination wedding may be really difficult to find. If you just want photos and don't care about the professional touch to it then I agree, your best bet may be to get a digital camera and give it to someone attending your wedding who loves taking photos and have them do it.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. We are not having a resort wedding. We instead are having ours at a beach club.

We started from a blank canvas, which is amazingly fun. The last vendor for hire is a photographer.

I know I will be able to find the right photographer for the right price.

I know there are probably some freelance photographers maybe looking to build their portfolio or who are maybe just starting out.

Was curious to see if anyone has some inside information..

I'm going to talk to my WC and my officiant see of they know anyone locally.

If anyone knows anyone let me know!

Thanks!!

I'm paying $1600 for full day coverage (one package higher than mine). They had packages as low as $700 - but hourly rates as well. I'm using the resort photographer - photo adventures - because honestly my 'real life' friends x2 used them and I adored their pictures. And to be honest I look at all the pictures of all the photogs and can't see the difference. Maybe it's because I'm easy going? But I can't see the difference between $1600 and $4500 lol. Maybe the creativity. I've spent a lot of time looking in my city for engagement photos and at so many different photogs -sometimes their price differences make no sense.   I didn't research out different ones in Mexico because I was ok with our resort one from the get-go.

They may do off site weddings.

Actually my fiancé has an expensive camera and we were going to let his cousin, who is an amateur photog, do our photos. She isn't coming now and caused some family drama so that's a blessing in disguise lol. Do you know anyone coming with some camera skills?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
