Are You Guys Getting Professional Hair And Makeup Done?

Recommended Posts

I am debating this. My resort's prices are so expensive, and who knows how it will look. I was thinking about just having my friends help me (they are decently good at it, better than me of course) and maybe going to buy some better makeup and having someone do it for me at the store and give me pointers.

Thoughts?

I debated having one of my girlfriends do my hair & makeup but as this is one of the most important days of our lives which we will look back on for years and years, I decided to splurge and get my makeup professionally done. However, there are other things that maybe other ladies deem important that I didn't get or didn't splurge on, so it was a tit for tat for me.

I've also been debating this. A wedding guest has offered to do my makeup. While thats such a generous and thoughtful offer, I also want to make sure that's a good decision. I told her we have to do a couple makeup trials beforehand and I can decide from that :)

YES! I want to feel comfortable and beautiful on my day.... and I don't want to put that kind of pressure on myself for any of my guests. Definitely worth the few hundred to have a professional.

This is also what I am thinking. I really wanted to bring in an outside make up artist, but I'm stuck on the vendor fee. It is just me - no bridal party - so the vendor fee is way more than the fee to do my make up. PLUS, my fiancé feels strongly that I should look like ME on our wedding day. So, I'm hesitant to go to out of the ordinary on my make up (no lashes). I've heard the resort doesn't use very high quality make up so I may get a lesson and practice ahead of time so I can do it myself.

I'll have my hair done at the spa - I may do a trial once I get there just to make me feel better about it. I want my hair up, but I don't want it to look super formal. More beachy.

Definately getting hair done at the spa but debating getting a makeup consult at MAC in town and doing my own there. Haven't decided.

I went to sephora yesterday and they said you can make a 45 min makeup appt where they will show you things to do, you just have to commit to buy 50$ worth of product (not hard to do). I was thinking of going and bringing my MOH . For my hair, I was just going to have my MOH do a trial with me - all i want is my hair down with curls/waves. If I wanted an updo, I would probably have a pro do it

I also want to look like me but also want flawless photo skin ha!  I know I can have both, but need some help!

I am still undecided about going to MAC or doing it at the spa, but atleast with MAC I get the products to keep.  My bridesmaid married last year and had the MAC lady come to her home to do her makeup - she was good, so if we do this we plan to use her.

I have shorter hair (chin length) so there isn't much that can be done. I am going to get a trial at home with my stylist and we are going to take a lot of pictures and hope she can reproduce.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
