Dw Dress...follow The Rules?

@@alwalters625 Dress is beautiful! @@Sabes44 Love your dress also! It definitely does look perfect for a DW!

Has anyone ever done any major alterations to their dresses? Anything like changing the shape in the front to changing the style in the back? I love my dress just wondering if I should do anything else to it to make pop even more. Love the idea of a more open back! Not sure if it's a good idea to do any major changes to a dress

I'm getting a few changes made to mine including a slight change to the neckline to make it more boatneck and a little beaded bit (having a complete brain freeze and can't remember the name for it) removed or possibly added to a belt. Plus getting the bodice as well as the skirt shortened so it sits at a more flattering length. Plus getting a big-a$$ petticoat for loads of pouff!!! (ok, so that's not an alteration but a necessary step, I realised during my brief wedding dress shopping experience that I love pouff!)

@@NotSoWitty Go for what you love! Extra Pouff it is! lol I will make some changes to my dress when the time comes (if I stick with the dress I currently have) but I'm continuing to have the urge to browse at this other bridal boutique for other dresses. I mean it doesn't hurt to keep looking right?

@@Sabes44 I had to report back that I had the Katie May dress sample shipped to me and tried it on today (there are no salons nearby that carry her dresses). Ever since I saw your post I've had it in my head and nothing has compared! It is exactly what I envisioned for my wedding, even though with a slighter higher price tag. I have a "virtual fitting" with the shop in LA tomorrow evening and I'm 99% sure I'm going with this dress - assuming they can make it in time. I know I'll be cutting it a little close.

I'm not that sentimental so I definitely plan to sell it after my wedding to subsidize the extra cost. But all the other dresses I looked at were like $1,300 anyway.

Thank you SO MUCH for posting it on here! My time "investment" in this site is paying off. Haha.

Ugh - I'm going to go to sleep fantasizing about your dress @@Sabes44 (is that weird...haha?) I was trying to save money in the dress category (under $1,000) but I may need to reconsider now! :)

I hope you had good dreams about the dress @becky98.  Honestly I never thought I would spend more than $1,000 on a dress but once I saw this one, I knew it was it (before even trying it on!).  There are site's where girls resell their dresses after their wedding.  I saw a few Katie May's on there too, might be an option for a lower price point!

Oh that makes me so happy @beckys98!!!  My dress just came in today and I can't wait to go try it on (and secretly might put it on when the fiance is not home  :D ).  I felt the same way when I found that dress.  Never thought I would spend that much on a dress either.  But figured it was worth it and I am so frugal with everything else and I know it will make him happy.  He saw a picture on pinterest the other day (accidentally and not knowing it was my dress) and commented how much he liked it (he never comments on wedding dresses).  So now I really can't wait to wear it!

Congrats on finding the dress and I am sure they can turn it around by June, it took them 3 months or so to do my dress.

Oh how funny yours came in today! I would definitely want to wear it! I'm hoping with the complimentary adjustments they do that I won't need much in the way of alterations once it arrives.

I told my fiancé to show me a picture of what he thought was a good beach wedding dress and he picked out ones that were very similar, so it solidifies by decision! I don't really think he'll be expecting it, but he'll love it.

It is 2 degrees in Chicago today so I will spend my evening fantasizing about wearing that dress for my June beach wedding in Jamaica!

This is the dress! http://www.katiemay.com/products/poipu

I would post the pictures of me in it, but I took them myself...in my bathroom...and I'm not an experienced selfie taker! I'll have my sister take a better one tomorrow when I see her :)

I think you must have given plenty of thoughts to yourself to what you will wear and just imagine what you want to look like and go with it. And yes if still not sure then keep searching, you will find one.Best Wishes!

I am hoping with the alterations that I won't need to do too much either, other then the hem of course.  Good luck on your virtual fitting!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
