Ok, Might Have To Cancel My Wedding.... :)

Recommended Posts

So while I know when you travel anywhere tropical there are a lot of 'wildlife' and bugs and spiders.

I have been to Mexico in the Mayan and it took some getting used to have large iguanas, raccoons and monkeys around, but never really saw any nasty bugs or spiders. I really appreciated I saw nothing in Cuba although it was there.

Spiders are my worst fear in the world, even the smallest one will make me scream like a little girl! No really! lol

So today I was on Trip Advisor because I hadn't looked at my resort reviews in awhile - Grand Sirenis - and the lady mentioned seeing Tarantulas, no really she listed it in her review.

OMG! really? like I knew they would probably be in Mexico (but how dare they really) but right on the resort? I hope not, I hope she meant down the road somewhere else.

I am already have heart palpitations about it, and wonder if I saw one that I may die and there would be no wedding.

Am I the only crazy fool?

Maybe I can pack some raid haha!

lol, I am sorry to laugh, but this post has me laughing. I would TOTALLY freak out if I saw a tarantula. I saw iguanas when I went in December, I would freak out if I saw snakes. Oh my goodness. Oh, BTW also pack mosquito repellent.

WOAH WOAH WOAH SHUT UP. When you say on the resort.... like... outside? near the pool? int he grass? inside? IN HER ROOM?!?!?! Please clarify? ahhhh!I've been to Mexico many times and have never seen a tarantula... but I would honestly probably never return if I did. I can barely fly ever since snakes on a plane. ( i know...)

alright... did some research and it looks like sept/oct is the time that tarantulas and scorpions and the like are on the roam... though still unlikely in the resorts... nonetheless, AHHHHH.

She didn't clarify where she saw them she just mentioned she saw a lot of things and this was in her list. Trust me I already had nightmares.

In my world they don't exist whatsoever so I can sleep at night. Snakes also scare me.

I thought ?!?! Resorts sprayed for pest control but unsure what that includes. May just the flying critters? Cockroach?

Well as much as I'm still considering calling it off lmao it gives me comfort I am not alone.

I asked a girl who I know who stayed at my resort in march. While she may have just been humoring me she said the spiders where in the bushy part not around pools and such. The T word never came up.

Eek! Sorry to ruin anyone else's day. Note to self - no more trip advisor

I've also been to Mexico and never saw one. Even ziplining they the jungle so going to try to move on hehehe

LauraM this is why I'm very reluctant to go to Costa Rica, my sister saw tarantulas and snakes but while exploring. She chased what she thought was a crab. Bahah it wasn't. She freaked.

I very much dislike insects. Was it just one reviewer out of a lot of reviewers mentioning the tarantula? Perhaps the chance of actually encountering one in the resort is slim?

Ladies - I've been to Mexico 3 times and I have never ever seen one. Ever.

Not that they aren't there, no idea. I know they have bugs and snakes. But in all my time there, never ever have I seen one. I think you will be ok.

P.S - They fumigate the resorts EVERY night. So think it was a very very rare thing.

I've been to mexico over a dozen times and never seen one either! I freak at cockroaches and haven't seen one of those at a hotel except once on a girls trip where we went with a 3 star resort and learned our lesson! If I saw a snake or tarantula I would lose it.... I think the reviewer may have been exaggerating or was a total rarity! I would not make this a thought in your mind... It won't happen to you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
