Are there a lot of mosquitoes in Mexico?

I went to Mexico in April 2013 and didn't have Mosquitos but sand flees are annoying!

Saw a cockroach near our room but it was on it's back so I figured that was bad and laughed at it hehe

The fact she wrote it freaked me out - just the one reviewer of thousands I've read. Struck me she'd mention it. Thanks ladies!!

I have been there in November, February, and July - I noticed them the most in November and hardly at all in July. I primarily noticed them around dusk if we were still by the beach. My fiance has a bad habit of not closing the balcony door so we would get a few in our room - if you keep the door closed you'll be fine :)

One out of the three times sand fleas were an issue - sure makes lounging on the beach uncomfortable! But the other 2 times never noticed them at all.

Been to Belize... I found it more "buggy" than other tropical locals (sand fleas, scorpions, cockroaches) Honduras too- but both were pretty! And didn't see snakes where we were (though I'm sure they are in the juggle brush)... Just didn't see them at our resorts.

Oh good! I was thinking I have to lather myself in citronella to reduce bug bites.

@@calgarybride2015 Here in the tropics, there are a bunch of spiders, thanks God they moved when people arrives and settle, but many spiders don't, this is your lucky day, tarantulas run away from humans, so If you see one, It is because you are in the jungle, although you may see one in a resort, It will be 1 out of 1000 chances

I love the nature and go into jungle, I work in many resorts and also stay a lot in them, in 5 years I have never see one in a resort

happy planning!!

So while I know when you travel anywhere tropical there are a lot of 'wildlife' and bugs and spiders.

I have been to Mexico in the Mayan and it took some getting used to have large iguanas, raccoons and monkeys around, but never really saw any nasty bugs or spiders. I really appreciated I saw nothing in Cuba although it was there.

Spiders are my worst fear in the world, even the smallest one will make me scream like a little girl! No really! lol

So today I was on Trip Advisor because I hadn't looked at my resort reviews in awhile - Grand Sirenis - and the lady mentioned seeing Tarantulas, no really she listed it in her review.

OMG! really? like I knew they would probably be in Mexico (but how dare they really) but right on the resort? I hope not, I hope she meant down the road somewhere else.

I am already have heart palpitations about it, and wonder if I saw one that I may die and there would be no wedding.

Am I the only crazy fool?

Maybe I can pack some raid haha!

Funny!!! Always you will have good and bad reviews, by your own judgement you can go and believe what you want :) It is always like that :) Trip Advisor is my number one site, BUT I always do my own judgement because not all the time everyone is happy!

CalgaryBride!

Oh girl, I hate spiders too. But good news!! I've lived in Playa for over a year and I've never seen a spider! I know they're here - but I just have been lucky to not see one! It's getting a little weird... but this is why I welcome the lizards that live wild in my apartment, and I guess it works :)

So don't cancel just yet! haha

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
