No Maids, No Groomsmen?

Recommended Posts

We weren't planning on having anyone up there at all but my FFIL told our niece and nephew they were in the wedding so now I have a flower girl and FI has a best man who idolizes him lol

It's all a personal preference. I'm just having a maid of honor, best man, flower girl, and ring bearer and this was a best, easiest decision for my fiancé and I!

I agree.  It's whatever you'd like. I too considered not having a bridal party at all because I was concerned about the added costs to our bridal party.

Ultimately we had to remind ourselves that this is our once in a lifetime wedding and we most certainly wanted our bridal party at our sides. :)  And after speaking with everyone, they were genuinely excited to be a part of our day.  We will try to cover as much as possible - hair/makeup, accessories, etc.

I'm having issues in my selection but haven't thought about no BM - I guess I always wanted to have a fun day with my girls before getting married!!!

I have issues with my sister (a whole other thread) and haven't decided who will stand with me. Its between 2 and 3 girls right now.  But I have already decided that I do want most of my friends to come by and do their hair and make up and have a drink with me before I put my dress on, and then have my family, BMs there when I do put my dress on and go.

I mean, its maybe an hour out of the day the BMs are with me when no one else is.  And I want those private moments full of support and reassurance (because come on, we will all need to be reassured that we aren't bulging in our dress or something!).  I just want those girls that I know, 100%, will be making me laugh and giggle before I head out.

But at the end of it all - you can have those things without a bridal party so you have to do what you feel!

  • 1 month later...

@@KAT2015 I hink my besties would still come get ready with me. Actually, I know they would. So, I'm not so concerned about that.

I was super concerned about them having hurt feelings, but after a heart to heart on vacation with one of my besties (after I started this thread), she realized my concern for all of them. But she basically said, they would make it work.

So... still up in the air. I got some time.

All my close friends are coming to our wedding but I didn't pick any bridesmaids, just my sister who I bought the dress for. Other than that I told the girls who were closest to help out with things here and there. they all seem to be okay with it.

Is anyone not doing a bridal party?

Don't get me wrong, I have a group of besties, but I just feel like it's unfair to ask them to not only come to my DW, pay for their flights accommodations, etc AND also pay for their dresses, shoes, etc.

I'm having a hard time because I mentioned this in passing and my friends kind of got upset that I would not have a bridal party.

The man has mixed feelings about it as well, for similar reasons.

It's about you and your fiance.

Not about your friends getting a photo opp at the front.

If they're upset, they're not your friends.

Sorry :/

We decided not to have a bridal party for similar reasons already mentioned. We had a few people inquire about why they hadn't been asked to participate a few months ago. After explaining that we didn't want to burden anyone with additional cost associated with being in our wedding...they were actually relieved.

Fortunately it worked out for all of us!

I wish we had only done one each. But fiancé got super excited and ran out and asked 3 :(

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
