How Many Pieces Of Luggage Are You Bringing For Wedding Stuff?

Recommended Posts

how many pieces of luggage are you going to bring for wedding stuff- or are you integrating it into other luggage? Are people in your family willing to help? Did you feel overwhelemed with all the luggage you are bringing? Are you planning to leave stuff at the resort and putting suitcases into suitcases to bring back? Anyone considering upgrading to first class to get more checked luggage- how much is the increase in fee usually?

I am still 5 months out but started to think about this yesterday.

I really want to get all my guests tumblers but need 44.  I bet that takes an entire suitcase! so it is kind of panicking me. I already have 44 maracas to bring down amongst other decor.

We got upgraded to first class as a part of our package thru the TA. I can't speak for any other airline but Air Canada Vacations but I know we considered getting my kids first class and it was $300 each. No way so a friend graciously offered to sit with them as she is flying solo anyways.  My kids are only going to be 9 at the time and have no idea the difference so not worth the $$

With first class we get 2 bags each at 70lbs max (I wish we had 3 bags at less poundage as my favors are big in space but not high in weight).... then my kids get 1 bag each at 50lbs.   Overall we get 6 suitcases.

I hope 6 will be enough - 3 for clothes, 3 for wedding items.   If I had to pay for one more I will.   I probably should be more worried about how everything I want to bring on the plane will get on (carry on), so we only get one small bag each.

I am still up in the air re: suitcases.  Take ones that you can pack inside eachother to get them home, large duffle bags you can fold up into your other suitcases or just buy some old cheapies off kijiji or something and leave them at the resort.  This will be something we get serious about in the next couple months.

we have a similar situation as well with the tumblers and marracas.  I'm hoping I can ask my bridal party to save space in their luggages for some of the wedding supplies.  Everyone can take things with them to help out maybe! :)

We will be taking four suitcases between the two of us...it is only $20 for a second bag with WestJet. Then, if we need another I will get a friend and her bf to bring them as they are in our flight. Right now I have everything sitting in my basement in a pile...I keep meaning to figure out how much there is...but I don't have the courage quite yet! Lol

I'm impressed you can get by with 4!!  Well I probably could if I didn't do maracas and tumblers.  I made sure to get things that weren't breakable, etc. so no extra special packing was required.

Lol, well, my hope is that we can bring 4, my guess is we will have to have at least one more though!! We also are bringing plastic travel mason jars...and have 75 people coming so they will probs need one of their own at least!!

I got a wally bag for my dress and my FI's suit. I can fit about 3 more dresses or suits in it, so that will be my carry on. My FI will bring our usual carryon with change of clothes, swim suits, make up, etc. Then we will each have 1 checked bag. We actually have a friend that lives in Cancun so we are sending all of our extras to her :)

I plan on buying maracas in Mexico, but yes, I want tumblers. That , plus other OOT bag items, centerpieces, possibly fake flowers, etc makes me nervous how many suitcases I will need. Plus I feel like I will want to bring so many clothes because I want to look cute during the week and won't be able to decide what to bring. I was thinking of maybe getting a credit card for whatever airlines I take, and that would allow me to check something for free.

We are flying first class and get 2 suitcases each at 70 pounds to check in so all together we will have 4 checked in bags and 2 carry ons.  I also have family who will use their free check in bag to bring stuff for me.  I'm hoping to be able to fit all wedding decor/favors and any extras into 3 checked bags.  So far I have 2 bags filled and I'm almost done packing everything away so I should be good with 3 check ins for decor alone.  Now I hope I can fit all my shoes in my own bag along with 2 weeks worth of clothes.  Oh and I need to carry my wedding dress and my fiance's suit.  I can just picture us now with all this luggage lol.  Kind of sucks that we will be completely alone when we travel since we will be going a day earlier than everyone else would be nice to have some extra help.  ;)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
