Social Media And Your Wedding Day...

Recommended Posts

I don't quite understand....do ya'll mean being able to post your actual wedding day photos from your photographer before anyone else posts photos?

Hey @@calgarybride2015,

I want to also inform people to please not post pictures of us on social media until we have had a chance to do so.

How did you do with this? What wording did you use? I don't care if they post pics just don't do it before me and Nathan posts them. I hate when people post pics of the bride and groom and they haven't even said I do yet. But that's just my opinion.

What did you do with this?

Quite honestly I didn't deal with this. I just accepted it may happen :/ I'm happy to report that everyone had some common sense and waited for us to post first.

That said, Shawn had the convo with someone but unsure who.

I would put it in your welcome letter if it's super important to you. I doubt 100% that anyone would be offended.

Never really thought about professional

Photos. I think people don't want all those iPhone photos posted shortly after the ceremony. Most brides/grooms I've seen take some from a family or friends camera (like me) and posts those a day or two later to show the world--while they await their professional photos. Since those can take many months to come It would be hard to ask people to wait that long but again that's your individual decision.

Yeah just not posting photos from an iPhone or something right during the ceremony.

It's ok to after just not before we are even done the ceremony. Be nice if we had a chance to post something first (whether it be from a friends camera or phone or whatever). Maybe I will just leave it too Kim and hoping it would work out like it did for you.

I asked Shawn and he said 'isn't that common sense?' hahah really? We wish but as we learned nothing seems to be common sense in weddings. Thankfully my guests respected it and wifi was for a fee at my resort but not sure if that played a role.

Now I know I'm old fashioned, because I would be really upset if someone had the nerve to post photos of my wedding on FB or somewhere else before I even had an opportunity to do it. To me that's just in really poor taste and shows a total lack of respect for the bridal couple. I don't care who you are - friend or family - it isn't your day. It belongs to the bride and groom and I think sticking photos up somewhere without asking them first is just plain rude!

Ok, that makes sense. I guess I never really thought about posting photos of the couple the day of the wedding because I was having too much fun being a part of their special day. I didn't realize that some guests didn't do the same and wait?

I see it ALL THE TIME that people post pictures to Facebook DURING the ceremony and I cringe every time. You're stealing the couples thunder! I would like to at least SEE the first picture everyone else is going to see to make sure I like it ;)

We are going to ask our guests to please not post pictures from the wedding until after we get home. We will set our Facebook settings so that we have to approve any photo that we are tagged in before it can post to our profiles, which helps *some* of the photo spread. It doesn't stop them from posting it, just from tagging us in it.

I wish I could ask people not to post any pictures from the entire trip until we get home either, but I know that is completely unreasonable. I just wish I could keep it private, special and intimate among our guests for a few days, but that isn't how the world works anymore

I'm torn on this one.

Given that friends can't see anything on my FB unless I allow it on my 'timeline' I'm going to make sure that Groomzillo also does the same thing.  I don't think that there is wireless connection in the area that we are getting married during the ceremony. We will probably get our photographer to iphone shoot us a few too so we can post one right before the reception for our friends and family who can't make it that way we can get ahead of the people that do post during the reception.

I don't have the heart to tell people to not post things.  It's their experience too and I'm not a Kardashian...so I'm not going to drive myself nuts controlling the paparazzi.    hahahahha
