Social Media And Your Wedding Day...

Recommended Posts

I definitely would let your guests know that you would like to be the first people to put your pictures on social media.  This way everyone is aware.  The positive thing about destination weddings is that most people will not even think to use their phones that day.  Most people keep them tucked away in the safe in their rooms so they don't get roaming charges.  So it is a lot easier to have this request away.

Not sure I 100% agree. If there is wifi and especially if it's free people will have their phones out. It's our culture now you know? Especially if that's their only way to have a camera.

Most resorts only offer free wifi in the lobby areas of resorts and have to pay otherwise.  So people may not be uploading right from the ceremony location.  But if you want them not to upload photos I would still suggest you let them know just in case.

My resort I heard is spotty so I'm not worried at the ceremony itself but the last time I was in Mexico the whole resort had it. iPads at the pool and on the beach galore!!! People just laid in the loungers on their phones. And it was free!!!!

Oh wow!! I was really hoping to have some time away from the phone. Good to know! Thank you!!

I can only speak for that resort. Now I'm

Going to a 5* and I have to pay and hear it only works good in the lobby lol

It's a crap shoot. Since everyone I care about will be with us my phone will be stored away.

During all my travels I've found Time away from your phone is best done in Cuba. Hahahaha. Wifi is slim to none! I got engaged in Cuba and I had to wait a couple days to find an internet cafe!!!

We are having an "unplugged ceremony." I personally hate when looking through pictures of someone's ceremony and the guests faces are covered by iPads because they are focused on pictures! Since we are getting the disk and rights to our photos we can give them to our guests and they don't have to worry about taking pictures...at least that how we are going to phrase it! We will also be asking our guests to allow us the privilege of posting our first picture as husband and wife on all social media.

We plan to put it in our welcome letter and on the programs. I don't care if they take pictures at cocktail hour and reception and put those on social media, just not at the ceremony.

Hey @@calgarybride2015,

I want to also inform people to please not post pictures of us on social media until we have had a chance to do so.

How did you do with this? What wording did you use? I don't care if they post pics just don't do it before me and Nathan posts them. I hate when people post pics of the bride and groom and they haven't even said I do yet. But that's just my opinion.

What did you do with this?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
