If You Are Having A Catamaran Trip- Are You Paying?

Recommended Posts

I am wondering what people are doing for this. We are looking into it, and for the boat and amount of people it will likely roughly be 2000. I kind of want to be a good hostess and pay for it, but that is a LOT of money...

My friends destination wedding is in Oct, she is doing this but had people RSVP and pay through the catamaran site on her website. On her actual wedding invitation under Events it mentions the catamaran but not anything about the cost, and I guess people just found out when they went to her website. I don't really know what I think of this..

So if you aren't paying for it, how do you phrase it and how do you collect the money?

If it's part of your official wedding events/ you should pay.... If it's an optional excursion you are suggesting, then it's ok to have guests pay.

IMO

I agree with the above. If you want everyone to attend and make it an official event you should pay or at the very least pay 50%. If you list it as optional then they can pay themselves!!

I like the optional one myself but not just on the cost. You will have people who don't want to go for whatever reason. I guess if you paid for the whole boat not per person you wouldn't lose money on those who don't go. Hope that made sense.

Ps - your friend should have listed there was a cost involved from the get go.

I'm thinking being blunt is the way to go.

We are going to probably do one for my stagette and it will be clearly noted as optional and what the cost is.

We are having a catamaran tour for our guest and we are paying for the cost. The tours in Costa Rica are a bit more cost effective but nevertheless we have 81 guests attending. What we did was connect with a tour operator in Costa Rica and they provided us with a group discounted rate.

The other option might be to only have a catamaran tour with the immediate family and bridal party.

Hi @@nadiakat17 I'm doing a catamaran trip for my guests. Fortunately for me the rental itself is free bc I qualified based on how many guests that I booked. This was a perk incentive offered by my travel agent. I do have to cover food and beverages on my catamaran and my guest max is 40 ppl so I will have to get RSVP for this. I have about 65 guests I'm hoping not all of them want to go! It's a 4 hour snorkeling cruise to marina moroma

@rtscent- how much do you think the food and beverages will cost per person? For the one I was looking at the cost of everything is included in the rental so it was about 40$ per person, wondering if this is roughly the same. I will try to negotiate something with different companies.

$40 per person all inclusive is a wicked price IMO if it also includes some activities. Do you get anything like snorkeling or does it just include being on the boat with food/booze? In Cuba I paid a lot more than $40 but had all the booze, lobster lunch, snorkeling and swimming with dolphins.

  • 3 weeks later...

We are going to be doing a group excursion, but we aren't paying for it.  It will be optional for our guests.  I am going to put the word optional next to it and the amount of the trip per person.     This way there is no confusion on if we are paying for the excursion or not.  They can be rather pricey, wish I could afford to pay for everyone but with the wedding budget is tight.

We are paying for the catamaran and that includes open bar and parasailing but no food. My planner found us a company that would do it for under $800/ 3-4hrs. We are only asking our guests to pay the $10/pp park fee. We listed this on our website under weekend activities and stated they could bring whatever snacks or have the hotel pack a lunch. Everyone is so excited!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
