Tygrrlily's Planning Thread - Beach Palace Resort - 12/19/14

@@LauraM We have 22 guests and my WC told me that we can have the private reception, but we will have to pay for the minimum 25 people (we only qualify for the free cocktail hour). It seems that the WCs give out different info depending on who they're talking to which is highly annoying. Of course, if you have way less than 25 people I understand why paying for 25 would be a total waste of money.

ohhhh! So glad you've shared this with me! This makes me SO frustrated that they haven't given me this option, even though I've told them I will have to cancel my entire wedding/stay if we can't have a reception (because not having one is not an option for me). I will definitely pay for 2-3 heads before canceling my wedding, lol. Thank you!!

@@ChocolateBride - Thank you for all of the compliments!  We had a fantastic wedding week and I have to admit I'm in a bit of vacation and wedding withdrawal haha.  It's weird not to be planning for the wedding!

I don't have all of our numbers exactly but we did stay on budget for the week - I can PM you what that was.

Also we're going through gifts and such right now because we're ordering our thank you cards and we have really generous people in our lives.  Almost everyone that came to Mexico still gave us a gift, and we had a lot of family and friends that didn't attend give us gifts as well.  So it looks like all of those gifts actually covered most of our wedding costs for the week (!).  Didn't expect that at all w/ a destination wedding.

Hello ladies!

We just got our thank you cards in from Shutterfly and they look great!  I'll post a pic tomorrow.  I'm going to try to get them all finished and mailed out this weekend.  We also printed some pics to include in the envelope.  I had thought about doing photobook thank you cards but I think I'm a bit burned out haha... decided to go the easier route.

Finally added our professional pics to FB.  If you want to see more pics, this link should work:

Here is our thank you card.  We went pretty simple:

I liked Shutterfly because they had nice big 5x7 cards and I wanted to write a nice message for each group that came to the wedding.  They also have the option of putting a picture in the inside and back which we did for both - thought it was nice to put a group pic in the inside.  Envelopes were nice quality as well.  Would recommend them.  We printed out pics of us + each group and I'm going to mail that as well

We finished all of our thank you cards yesterday so I just need to go to the post office and mail them out.  Then woohoo - all wedding related obligations are done :).

Lily you are an inspiration. You have done so well with all your planning and was really on the ball with the thankyou cards. Your pictures showed just how much work you put into this. I looked through each of your pictures, twice. I just love looking at wedding pictures and your's are absoloutly amazing. Loved everything about what you did for your wedding.

@@kcole123 - Thank you!! Ah that's so sweet of you to say :).  I personally hate when people take forever w/ thank you cards so I wanted to get them out as quickly as we could. Especially b/c this was a DW and people spent their time and money - I really want people to feel appreciated and know how thankful we are that they came to Mexico for our wedding.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - this forum is honestly THE best site for planning.  You ladies are so supportive and there is such a wonderful community here.  That's why I'm still here one month after my wedding - I want to help anyone else out as much as people have helped me.  I'm on dif. DW facebook sites too and I still prefer this forum by far - the fb sites are way too overwhelming personally and I can't stand getting all the updates on my fb haha.  I like having a dedicated site I can log into and browse around at my own convenience.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
