Tygrrlily's Planning Thread - Beach Palace Resort - 12/19/14

Recommended Posts

The eyelashes are pretty good!  It's been about a week and a half.  They're starting to fall out but they're still fairly full and they are definitely nicer than my normal lashes haha.  I also do like that I can step out w/o any eye make up on and still look pretty good

I went pretty natural w/ my first set but I'm going to see if she can make them fuller for when we leave.  I think it's perfect for something like a DW so you can have nice eyelashes the whole week and not have to worry about makeup.  On a regular basis though, the upkeep is pretty annoying and I am honestly looking forward to getting back and removing them and just having normal lashes and washing my face/removing makeup normally.  You have to be a bit more careful about not getting water directly on them and use those little wands from Sephora to remove eye makeup which is kind of annoying.  I don't wear a lot of makeup on a regular basis so it hasn't been too bad, but if you go the whole 9 yards everyday I can see it being really annoying.  So for regular wear, my laziness is winning out over vanity :)

@@tygrrlily make sure you use a water based makeup remover, oil based one affects the glue. I used to get eyelash extensions on a regular basis and agree that they just make your eyes pop. I wasn't blessed with long lashes and loved my lash extensions. But make sure you don't get water on them (showers were always challenging) as some of the lashes may get crooked when they dry.

For anyone wanting to try them, I would advise doing what @@tygrrlily did, and get them a couple months before to get used to them. Don't do it way in advance. After a year of regularly getting them done, i decided to get them removed to let my natural lashes "breathe". Well to my surprise, I was left with lashes that were shorter than what I started with a year ago! I basically had no lashes, not very pretty!

I lost my eye lashes when I was using waterproof mascara. Pulled them out struggling to remove the mascara. I had to use thick eye liner to give the effect of eye lashes. Hated it. Since I've been using non waterproof I've been fine.

Sorry that was totally unrelated haha

@@nadiakat17 - You can get them wet, but I try not to him them directly with shower water if that makes sense because of the force.  I think it's more about the longevity of the lashes.  If you maintain them well, they last longer

I totally plan on going into the pool and snorkeling :)

@@Wafflesmom - Yes the lash technician told me the same so I made sure to go buy water based remover :). I've heard about the shorter lashes after too - that kind of scares me but hoping for the best!

Everything on here is so awesome you have done a great job and now your day it finally right around the corner. So many things you have said hit so close to home. I have 6 months but I had expected so many more people to book by now but not even half of the people I anticipated have paid deposits so I am moving on and going to start enjoying the people who are going. Great thread, please post pics afterwards and let us know what worked and what to avoid. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

@@calgarybride2015 - we took off the lids and straws and stacked them to save room. Going to assemble there with the rest of our welcome bag stuff

Wanted to give a quick update. This has been the busiest week of my life - had 6 exams Mon-Weds then prepping for Mexico and our legal ceremony today which has somehow exploded. My fiancé and I aren't happy with all of the extra stress and that it's essentially turned into a second wedding - wish we had been firmer with that.

Super stressed and my skin is awful right now because of lack of sleep and stress :(. Just hoping it clears up before the real wedding next week. I'm getting my hair done right now and I think it's the first time I've sat still haha. I'm super excited but my brain is never stopping and I have all of these last minute things to do.

Would love to do a proper update post with all the things I have - got our flowers from bloom bridal in (they're amazing!), changed jewellery (wearing pearls now - my mom bought me a necklace!) and some decor stuff but not sure how to attach pics from my phone. Will try to tmr or it might have to wait until we're back. Just wanted to say hi to everyone and thank you for all of the support these last months!! Next time I post I'll prob be legally married - eek :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
