Hi All! I'm new to the board and getting married on Isla Mujeres in December and expecting about 25 people. Was wondering, if you're headed to the Riviera Maya or Cancun, did you use a travel agent to help your guests plan their trip?

Absolutely! Not sure if you are Canadian or American, but if you American I strongly reccomend the owners of this site (wright travel) who are amazing...

If you are Canadian like myself and many other brides here, travel works a bit differently than the US girls- and I can certainly suggest a great TA as others would also agree is fab.

American and thanks for the info! We have an agent now but the prices don't seem much different from what can be found on-line so I wasn't srue

Getting a good deal for your guests is only a small part of what a quality TA can do for you when planning a DW. The perks they can get for you and/your group at the resort, credits for bridal events and the organization of guests itineraries and needs are all ways they make your planning easier and sometimes cheaper! Totally wouldn't plan a DW without one!

For Americans and the way they book, the hotel rates generally won't vary a whole lot from what a TA can get for you. The biggest difference will probably be in the perks that they can work out, and maybe a slightly lower rate based on the number of rooms you will book. The biggest difference for US travellers is in the airfare. From what I've seen, some people prefer to play around online and book their own flight, especially if they are experienced travellers. But a lot of people aren't and they can get quite overwhelmed with trying to book their own flight. This is where a TA will work for you and for them. They have access to so much information that they can really help your guests with getting their arrangements finalized. Your perks sometimes can be quite substantial too depending on your resort and what their current offers are.

I would make sure and ask your TA what they can do for you in terms of resort offerings based on your numbers. It ususally goes by the number of room nights that you book. But make sure they really are working for you and getting you the best possible deal that they can.

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
