Any Wedding Dress Regrets?

Recommended Posts

HI Girls,

Well it's been a couple of months since I shopped for my dress. I am still waiting on the dress to arrive and they said most likely end of September, so by then it would be close to 5 months. I took a picture of the dress when I tried it on and I always look back at the pictures and see that it looks unflattering to me now. I loved the dress and the fact it was lace and I think that's the main reason why I bought it cause it's the dress I wanted but I didn't consider I guess that I should have gotten a dress that flattered me more. I really don't want a new dress or go shopping for another because I don't want to waste money on that seeing how I have made the deposit of half the dress cost. I am after losing 10 pounds since I tried the dress on so I am hoping it will look more flattering. I still really love the dress but question how it will look on me still even with the weight gone.

My question is are any of you other brides also going through this as well?

I had some second guessing after I purchased it but I went back to the bridal store and put on theirs and love it. And now that it's in my house I've had it on 3 times (lol I know I know) and I'm super happy with my purchase.

But to be honest until I got it back on a few times I wasn't sure either. Maybe you will be the same? My pics of it aren't the greatest either but I love it and feel like a princess in it so that's good enough for me.

If you love the dress then that's all the matters. The fear I have is if you invest in a second dress what if you have regrets again. I feel you picked it for a reason.

Good luck!

First of all, definitely if you lose weight, everything is more flattering, no matter what it is!!!!  So if you love the dress, my first thought would be that with losing weight, you will love the dress 100 times more!! It's very hard not to second guess. There is so much selection out there, it's always "what if I picked the wrong one?"  But as @@calgarybride2015 said, you chose the dress for a reason. I would say go with it and know that the worst thing that will happen is that the dress looks even better!! You will be gorgeous no matter what!!!!!

I had the same thoughts! I kept looking at the dress on the website and everytime I saw it on the model i forgot why I had picked it. I started wondering if I had made the right choice, etc. but then I decided to try it on again (I have it at home) and I fell in love with it again. Sometimes the pictures we take at the stores are really not the best. My makeup did not show up at all on the pictures and the camera isn't the greatest so it didn't catch all the nice details in the dress. The model on the website doesn't really do the dress justice in my opinion. It's definitely going to look different after losing 10 pounds, for the better of course, and if you're not even done losing all the weight then it will look even better the day of the wedding! Don't freak out yet, wait to try it on again when you get it. I'm sure you chose it for a reason :)

I searched for a year for my dress - I probably tried on 100 dresses. My problem is that I have expensive taste but just couldn't spend thousands on a dress. I had a dress picked out I was going to buy off the rack, and when I went to get it, it was gone! So I bought another dress. One week later, the store called me saying they have the dress. I went back and tried it on and they let me exchange it! I think because I tried on so may, I'm still not 100% sure about my dress, but I think until I'm all dressed up - hair , makeup, jewellery - it just won't feel right. I stayed in budget, and got a beautiful dress. It also needs slight alterations but they will make it look that much better. Three months to go, so no turning back now!

I felt like that too. It was one of the last dresses I tried on that day. And it was the sample dress on sale and I never buy anything on sale. After I bought it, I was like omg what did I do? But I have my first fitting in 2 weeks and keep checking the pics and I'm hoping I made the right choice! Down 12 lbs so I hope it looks better, well it better! LOL

I haven't bought my dress yet, but both my sister and my best friend went through the same thing. My sister got married in Mexico last summer and HATED her dress literally until a few days before the wedding. She loved it on that day and looks back at the pictures and can't believe how PERFECT the dress was and how great it looked. Hope you end up loving it as well!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
