Tradition = Boutonniere And Corsages

Recommended Posts

Hi, I was wondering what people traditionally do with boutonnieres and corsages- more specifically, I want my groom to have a boutonniere on his suit coat, but I think the two groomsmen will just wear shirts and maybe ties- would they need a boutonniere too? Also do fathers of the bride/groom get one? How about moms and corsages- is that done a lot? if so, wrist or pinned?

Thanks!

I'm not traditional ... At first none of the men (except fiancé) were getting bouts and honestly I considered my BMs not even having flowers but then I made room in the budget for them. I think they are a rip cost wise. So in the end the BP will have them and my dad. Otherwise no one else.

But from what I've seen at weddings most are pinned. Not sure I've ever seen a wrist one. I like the tie or bow tie or hankerchief instead for the pop of color on men but my fiancé doesn't lol

Definitely flowers are very traditional. Not so much maybe with DWs, but usually the bride and BMs have bouquets, and yes mothers. Pinned or wrist depending on the dress fabric. My MIL didn't want to pin something to her silk suit for our AHR so we got wrist corsages instead. Plus I didn't want another bouquet so I just wore a wrist corsage. Usually the groom has a bout and the groomsmen and yes dads too. That's not to say that's the way you have to do it. Destination weddings seem to cover the gamut of what is done and what isn't. So, it's whatever works for your budget and with what you want. If you can afford it, you could let everyone have a flower if you want. There don't seem to be hard and fast rules. If you look through photographer sites, you'll get some ideas of what people do and don't do. But in the end, it's up to you.

Good luck!

I want BM to have simple bouquets just a few flowers. I've looked through pictures and in my opinion boutonnieres on dress shirts look odd so if they are not wearing full suits I don't want any (yay some money saved)  Even for the groom I'm not sure he will have one. I would really like to find an idea that identifies the BP not sure what yet still need to do some research. As for our Dads the same thing we decide for groomsmen but different maybe something like a Tie bar... not sure. I will ask my mother if she wants a corsage but I doubt she will.

My BMs bouquets are three gerber daisies and some greenery. Quoted at $22 each or I wouldn't have paid!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
