Our Dw: Dreams Riviera Cancun 17 Apr 2015

Recommended Posts

So, it's been quite some time since I've posted. The FI and I relocated from St. Louis to Denver over Thanksgiving weekend! Whew! Happy that's over. We are almost completely settled in our new home (and yes, I managed to completely decorate for Christmas :)). With that being said, back to wedding planning...

Photog Ideas:

2. For anyone who is looking for a great keepsake wedding diary/planner, check out May Designs. My MOH/sister got one for me and I LOVE IT.

The best part about it is that it is you can customize it :)

Here is a photo of mine (I've been using it for over a year now, so it's a little worn, but I think that adds character... *I know, I'm super cheesy and sentimental!)

Updates:

We were assigned our wedding coordinator just this week, which is super exciting... but, also means I need to start getting into full-swing wedding mode.

We need to start finalizing our favor selections, pick out music, decide on FI's wedding day attire (!!!), cake toppers, start working on our Wedding Planner form, and all of the other "little" details.

Today, I have an alteration consultation and am going accessory shopping. I am excited, but nervous since I am new to the area, and don't know too much about the bridal shops here. However, I have done quite a bit of research and have asked around at work...

I did find MOH get-excited-gifts in our colors to mail to my sissy and bestie :)

@@kcole123 - No, we've made quite a few changes since we've started working with our WC, so I hope to finalize things soon.

We have so much to do, honestly. We moved from St. Louis to Denver Decemeber first, so wedding planning hasn't really been our minds as much. Soooo, it's crunch time! We still have to order favors and OOT items....  <_<

How is everything going for you?

Things are going good. I am trying to find ways now to make things a little cheaper and being wise in what I think I need for the wedding. I kind of went overboard with things at first and didn't shop around for best prices as much as I should have. I wanted a cocktail hour at first but am now thinking I shouldn't go with it just have everyone meet at a certain location after the ceremony. I find I shouldn't pay for booze at a cocktail hour when we are at an all inclusive resort anyway.

I am not having any extra added decor for the ceremony. I think because we are having it at the garden gazebo, the garden will be decoration enough. Don't want to spend the extra money there. I went about this backwards. Now is when I am trying to save where I can. Should have done that in the beginning.

Beach Wedding Cake Topper

Pam is wonderful to work with! I am anxiously waiting for my cake topper to arrive. Pam messaged me and said to let her know if there is anything I don't like. I'm sure I'll absolutely love it, but wow! Talk about customer service!

This is the stock photo, I ordered mine in off-white and I'll post a photo once I receive mine.
I was referred to Bridgette by another bride, and now I am referring her to anyone interested in a hair piece.
I told Bridgette that I have a fitting on March 10th and sure told me she'd make sure I had it by March 1st!
Bridgette also sent me photos of fabric to help me decide which color would be best for my dress.

Getting pinned for first fitting.
I am actually using the headpiece Elizabeth by Love Veils and Accessories for my belt/sash.

I purchased earrings by Malis Henderson Jewelry. They are teardrop style, and surprisingly not heavy, so I can wear them all day and night.
I'll post a photo of them once they come in.

Tumblers

We ordered ordered blank cups from discountmugs.com. We found a coupon on retailmenot.com so that was exciting.
Cups should arrive by March 3rd. I think we are going to purchase stickers from etsy.

Mini Beach Balls

Both were ordered from http://www.orientaltrading.com. I also used retailmenot.com and got $5.00 off purchase and free shipping.
These are supposed to arrive around March 4th.

Ceremony & Vows
We are writing our ceremony and vows instead of using the "script" from the resort. I thought I'd share this helpful guide from theknot.com

The Procession

This is the part where everyone walks down the aisle and takes their places for the ceremony. You each make your way to the altar separately, symbolizing the fact that you're coming from different backgrounds. In a Christian procession, the bride is escorted by her father, while the groom waits for her up front.

The Officiant's Opening Remarks

You've heard it a hundred times: "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today...."

The Charge to the Couple

Your officiant may take this moment to emphasize the significance of the vows you're about to exchange. This may also include a reminder of your duties and roles in marriage.

The Exchange of Vows

Your vows are your promises to each other. You may repeat the familiar "to have and to hold, for better or for worse" vows, or recite ones you've written yourselves.

The Ring Exchange

As you exchange rings, you typically say, "With this ring, I thee wed."

The Pronouncement of Marriage

The officiant makes it official ("I now pronounce you husband and wife").

The Kiss

And now the moment everyone's been waiting for: your first kiss as a married couple.

The Closing Remarks

Your officiant wraps things up with a few last words and, for a religious wedding, a blessing.

The Recessional

Basically the reverse of the processional, you exit the ceremony together as husband and wife, followed by the wedding party.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
