Bringing Tumblers On Plane

Recommended Posts

I have 45 tumblers and if I pack them with lid on (no straw) I will be lucky to get them in one suitcase. I probably can with no cushioning. Not sure their integrity to cracks? I think I will stack them inside themselves and assemble when I arrive.

yeah I am kind of bummed to check a whole suitcase for tumblers!

If I can get all 45 in my suitcase and it not look like they will all crack I may do that because..... with my upgrade to first class I only get 2 checked bags but they can be 70lbs!  We are all so accustomed to 40-50lbs that it may be hard to fill it up that heavy -- so if my cups are assembled and all fit in one bag I may get it under weight and take full use of this benefit. (personally I'd rather more bags with less weight)

I also have 45 maracas that take up a lot of room too!   We have 3 bags for all our extras, but may need a 4th, we shall see.

@@calgarybride2015 - I think I'm going to do the same. Stack them in each other and assemble there. I might just attach the sticklers there too to make it easier. I'll prob wrap those and the maracas w some bubble wrap too and hope they don't break

Haven't even thought about how many bags well need yet but most of us are flying out the same day so we can ask ppl to bring an extra bag for us for only $20 for the second bag. Luckily my parents sell suitcase and have a ton for us to use!

Not sure ill do bubble wrap yet as that will take a lot of space. If I do I will only do it for the maracas. None of mine shipped with bubble wrap so I feel better about that.

$20 isn't bad. We get 6 total and there is 4 of us so any extras shouldn't cost more than $20 each which is nice. I hope no more than 6 or 7 suitcases. Since I get 2 70lbs suitcases I may mix maracas in with clothes lol

I need more carry on space so may need help from others with that!

Putting a thin piece of tissue between the tumblers as you "stack" them will help in reducing the chance of breakage and keep weight low. I ship items all the time and this is a must when shipping plastic. It allows the cups to slide slightly and not get "stuck" against one another- which is the usual cause for breakage.

I had considered that for both my maracas and cups. More to not ruin the labels I'm adding but good point!! Will see what takes less space when it's time to pack :)

No matter if we stack or pack assembled there is still a chance so whatever takes less space will probably win.

We are bringing plastic mason jar cups with lids and straws. And we have 75 guests! I am starting to think I better figure out how we pack everything, I had thought about giving them to those that live here before we go but I don't want them to forget them here so we will take them all there.

My sister had a DW and everyone used the cups at the resort, they were awesome! And it really made the wedding group stand out!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
