How Hard Is It To Order A Bridesmaid Dress

Recommended Posts

HOW HARD IS IT! YOU HAVE ONE JOB.. ORDER YOUR DRESS. THAT'S IT.

I haven't asked them to do anything else.

Then I get attitude when I ask.

I haven't asked my bridesmaids to do anything. Nothing. Just order your dress.

One is excused because she lives in England and her father is dying.. of course I understand

The other three have no excuse.

I'm just pissy, hormonal and angry today.

I have had NO help from them at all and I ask to do one thing, ONE thing and they can't.

Rant over.

Do they know the style number they are supposed to order? Is it within their budgets or are they possibly needing to save some $ before paying? Did they just have to put out other money recently for your wedding and are feeling overwhelmed? (Travel deposits, shower, bachelorette party planning)?

The last wedding I was a BM for, the bride thought she was being nice and said we could choose whatever style we wanted so long as it was within her color scheme... It was soooo stressful that 4 of us were still without dress 2 months before the wedding because nothing seemed to look good and we wanted to know what the others were wearing so we could coordinate! Stressful! It all worked out and we looked great and the bride was ecstatic, but the delay wasn't cause we were lazy... It was just that we wanted to make sure we looked perfect for her wedding and didn't want to screw it up by picking a dress that wasn't perfect.

Lots of reasons for their delays... But if you voice your concern and give them a deadline- they will handle it. If they don't? Then no dress means no BM.

Sorry - should of given a little more information. They know the style, they know the color - I gave them the choice of picking whatever one they wanted, it doesn't bother me if they all are different styles or if 3-4 of them have long ones or 3-4 have short ones.

They all have the money to buy them. and the time, they are all well established in their careers.

They haven't had to pay for anything except for their trip. I paid for all of their hair, my parents are putting on a joint shower for my fiancé and I (and half of them can't make it to that)

The bachelorette is in Mexico and they don't have to pony up anything for as it's going to be on the resort because no one has time to throw me one here so I am essentially planning my own bachelorette as none of the girls have been to Mexico before and don't know the area.

Good idea about the deadline though - I am going to do that.

Thanks for taking the time out to reply - I appreciate it. I am having an uber frustrating day

Hang in there! It sucks that often times BMs dont step up and care as much as we do... And when we try and get our point across to them we look like Bridezilla bitches. Give them a deadline- tell them you don't have the energy to stress about that with everything else you have on your plate and tell them that if they don't have their dresses ordered by that date- then you understand how they are unable to stand up for you and will be happy to have them attend as a guest. I have one of my BMs who hasn't put her deposit down for the wedding yet- everyone else has... And admittedly we have lots of time, but it pisses me off that she can't take 5 minutes out of her day to do it- just so I don't have to worry. Ya know? And the kicker is- this girl recently got divorced and received over 3 million (yup read that right) in her settlement on top of alimony and child support- so she doesn't work and has a crap load of cash. Seriously... I guess everyone has different priorities but as a BM I totally feel you that they should be trying to do whatever they can to take away stress and "jobs" from our plates and not adding to it!

Hoping giving your girls a deadline helps!!

Thank you kindly for the advice - I just sent them a message asking them to please order them by Sept 15th (which is 7 weeks before the wedding)

Sucks you know how I feel - the kicker is both of these ladies have had a wedding before and know the stress but don't really care as far as ordering them.

Last thing I want to come across as is a bridezilla but man, with less than 3 months to go and with the dress taking a month or so to come in, they are cutting it down to the wire.

I feel like the bride takes on the majority of the responsibilities.... it can be annoying when we are the ones that need support! Venting is healthy.... hopefully your bridesmaid will order their dress soon.

I had to order 5 bridesmaid dresses- 4 were for my sisters and 1 for my best friend....

Thank you ladies. I am at work today and I have to keep it together obviously cause I am a professional and I am in HR but I am so frustrated.

If I was one of the first one's to get married, I would be understandable or if we still had quite a bit of time to go - I told the girls way back in March what dress it was, the color and everything. They have been in my shoes and they have been a bridesmaid before - I don't know why it's so hard just to order something.

I know I am the organized one in our group of friends and I don't mind doing a lot of things on my own but this dress thing is ONE thing. That's it.

Hahaha it doesn't matter if your "old"... I'm in my mid 40's as are my BMs and they can still be frustrating! Unfortunately age ain't always accompanied by wisdom! Hahah

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
