Family Of 4 With 2 Teenagers In One Room?

Has anyone encountered the issue of a family of 4 with two teenagers traveling to the wedding?  My cousin and her family want to attend and they have 2 daughters age 13 and 16.  Since the daughters are over 12 they count as adults and the resort has a maximum 3 adults to a room policy. what to do?  They are thinking about having one of their daughters be listed as staying with grandma and grandpa, but at the end of day can they all 4 stay in the room together?  does anyone actually pay attention once you get there?  It really seems like there should be a separate category for teens.

Our hotel has a separate category for teens "12-17"... I would confirm again with your TA that they don't- since this discounts the price somewhat as they factor in the cost of alcohol not being consumed by this age category. It was more than our kids pricing (3-11) but less than adults and also didn't count toward adult capacity. I am staying at a Karisma property, but I have seen similar breakdown with other hotels

One thing you might try is to get 2 rooms and have them be adjoining rooms so they are connected.  then you have the 2 bathrooms, more space, etc.

 

it is not saving much money by squeezing into a triple occupancy.  sometimes it is just a saving of $5-10 per night and it is not comfortable.

Our resort allows 5 to a room so this is a non issue for us.

 

That said for our package you can only get one child at the cheaper rate so I plunked my other kid under my dad. At the resort they will room with us though and my TA said it's a none issue and no one would no or care.

 

Seems like you'd have to do it under the radar if that's their policy but I'm sure happens more often than we'd think. Good luck

 

And ps- since they are technically kids by age I'm sure the resort may charge them as adults but they'd still be kids for the room numbers. No one expects a 12 year old to bunk alone.

At our resort 12 and over is priced as adult which was mentioned above that some don't. I wish!!! Ticks me off as no 12 year old is boozing!

Sticky situation. I think having the one room with the "grandparents" shouldn't be an issue. At the end of the day I doubt someone will say anything.

My daughter is listed as staying with her grandparents and I asked our travel agent and they said that no one is going to question it. How would they know if she is visiting or staying. Throw her clothes in the drawer and don't worry about it. I'm not.
