so happy i found this thread!  We want to do something separate too... we are getting married in costa rica... kids will be there but they are going home with my mom 5 days in... some guests are staying the entire time... so i was thinking we go somewhere else for the second week.  Im not sure where or if we should just stay in costa rica for another week?  that would probably be the least expensive option rather thatn catching a flight somewhere else...

nicaragua is very close so that may be an option if we can find some kind of transport...

@@bkprettygirl I was thinking about that too, whether or not we should leave to another country completely, that would REALLY give it that honeymoon feel! But I know the easiest and less expensive way to go would be to go to another resort. Either way, as long as you have some alone time with the new hubby it'll be good!

We haven't planned our HM yet, but my sister got married in Mexico last year. The wedding was in Riviera Maya and after a week with their guests they flew to Cabo for a few days and then flew up to California/Napa Valley for another couple days before heading home to Chicago. The time in Cabo at an all inclusive gave them quiet recovery time where they could relax, and then they got a little sightseeing in at the end.

We are getting married in Jamaica, where my fiance is from, so he doesn't want to honeymoon there. I'd like to at least stay a couple days in an adults-only in Negril though. I'd be fine doing the honeymoon separately at a later date as well. We'll see!

  • 2 months later...

We will be doing ours a few months later. We will stay with our friends and families for the week, however the day after the wedding we are doing our own thing away from everyone else ( not sure what this will be yet)

We will then go on our HM somewhere tropical during the cold Alberta winter :)

We are considering having our 'honeymoon' 6 months later or maybe having a really awesome trip for our 1 year anniversary. I think waiting a year would make it more special and be a nice way to  celebrate! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
