Need Favors Ideas, Welcome Bags And What Is Oot Bag? Please

Recommended Posts

There's nothing stopping you from paying the postage and mailing them out!! I think she was simply saying that they will send them out with the pretravel documents if you wish since she already has to send everyone information/package. It could save you some money- and as long as they are personalized your guests will know it's from you! I would let her pay the postage and put that money toward other things!

Oh I know :) was just shocked she did that as a nice gesture.

I told her that I already bought all the supplies to do the luggage tags so I would handle it all myself.

I can't have her mail them for me, because she is in BC, so I'd have to pay postage to get them to her anyways - so may as well do it all myself.  I thanked her for the fantastic offer and told her it was a great idea -- but one you lovely ladies already told me about.  All is well, just a nice shock she did that!

EDIT - sorry my original comment of 'but really? kind of shocked me'  was not meant to sound rude. I was really shocked she would consider doing this for my guests as a nice gesture!

@@calgarybride2015 - I definitely get the surprise! That's awesome and nice of your TA to do that. There are so many awful stories of TAs here (including mine - ugh) that I think a lot of us are surprised when we get good gestures from them

I agree! Seems anytime this happens in today's day and age - which is sad!

If I hadn't have already bought all the supplies and done the inserts I would have said 'go for it!!'

But truth be told, I am super excited to send out a pre-travel letter. I already have so much I want to say on it!!!!

And I think it will get everyone super pumped!!!

@@calgarybride2015 - I'm doing a premailer too! Working on it now. Going to do passport info books, luggage tags and maybe a "get pumped" CD.

Re: the OP, we are doing OOT bags and favours and I'm slowly gathering everything

I'm still trying to figure out what to put in each. I was going to do one OOT bag per couple, but now am giving 1 per person because of the way the bags worked out. I bought 40 because price wise, I could have gotten 40 or like 26 for the same price, so it was a no brainer. I got 20 with pink writing and 20 with mint green writing

Now I'm trying to figure out how to break up things because i still just want to do 1 hangover kit, etc. per couple.

For the ladies I have:

- bag

- tumbler

- bath pouf

- tissue packet

- pashmina

For the men I have:

- bag

- tumbler

- fun sunglasses

- tissue packet

- water gun?

Then things I want to put in jointly are the oh shit kit (advil, vitamin c, hangover pills, aloe, band aids, bobby pins, hair elastics, safety pins), door hanger and maybe a deck of cards but I'm not sure how to distribute yet and who's bag to put them in. I'm also going to put condoms in the Singles bags, and they'll get the joint things too.

I think the total cost of the bags will be about $15.

For favours, I'm still thinking about this. We were originally going to do the maracas from Amols, and I still like this because I think it'd look nice in pics. Trying to figure out colours though, because pink would prob look best on our tables, but I'm not sure if all the guys will want pink maracas. So I might do mint green or orange for everyone instead and have them on all of the chargers as decor too

We're also thinking Mexican hot sauce. We found these bottles at the mall nearby when we did our site visit for $3/each, and I think those will go over well. We had them for our Mexican themed engagement party, and everyone liked trying them. We're just going to tie a tag around them, and have them on our welcome/seating table.

And we're going to get some sand toys and bubbles and stuff for the kids

@@tygrrlily - all ok with the TA now? Sorry, that sucks :( I had some rough patches but seems to be ok! Hard to trust when a lot is on the line.

All great ideas!!!

Maybe put the survival/hangover kits (not using your swear word as on work pc lol) in all the females bags as some of the stuff is more feminine?

We did the maracas from Amols but went for the multicolored ones - we will tag them with names so men don't get the girly colors.  I asked my fiance about just getting pink, but we decided to go colorful instead!

No, my TA still sucks. Some of the other ladies on this forum have her too and it's the same situation. She starts off great - fantastic even - which hooks you in. But once you book, her response time completely changes. On top of that, she's been on vacation for almost 2 months now and was initially replying, but right now I haven't heard from her personally in over 2 weeks (despite many emails on my end). I have guests trying to book, and we've had to go to our TA's replacement, and then HER replacement b/c she's also on vacation. So we're on our 3rd transfer now, and I don't blame the guy for being slower because it's not his direct clients.  I've sent her an unhappy email already, and I might have to do it again. She got us a good rate, so I am happy about that, but it's frustrating when we have people that WANT to book and give cc info, and have to jump through all of these obstacles just to get contact.

@@tygrrlily I apologize, I think we had this convo before. OMG! I would be upset too. That makes it really tough, especially when you have specific deadlines. Can you go above her? Also, maybe if it doesn't resolve you need to call your airline directly and speak to them. I know some, like AC, frown upon it as they have an agreement with TA (stepping on toes?) but when push comes to shove you need to get stuff done. I know we don't pay them directly, but she is making commission off of you!!!

I hate to sound silly, but what is a pashmina? Is that a scarf? How did you get so many, so cheap?!?

Haha my FI was like "why is everything pink??" and I told him that's what he gets when he takes no part in the planning :P

Yes, I think I might do that, and then put the deck of cards in the boy bag

I ordered some sample maracas from amol's and they look great. There is some size discrepency though. I ordered the hot pink/magenta ones and the mint ones, and they're completely different sizes despite being listed as the same

It might have been me or it might have been another one of the ladies also using her! It's very frustrating. I'm not even sure who to contact because her manager was her first replacement, who's also on vacation now :s. We are dealing with it and I'm having everyone who wants to book contact me as I get better responses from them, but it's definitely frustrating. Our package is with AC

I'm able to get sunglasses and pashminas cheaply because my mom can order them at wholesale prices! Her business deals with this, so we can get them at cost prices! That's the only reason I'm including them ahha

I ordered the medium sized maracas as I thought that 2 inches would help when putting them in my checked bag BUT, I was told because they are authentically made with gourd that it comes in different sizes/shapes, etc. so they do the best they can.  I'm totally ok with that!

being you are in Canada, did you order to the border and go pick them up? That's what I did - get them this weekend! yay!

Yup! I ship everything to Niagara Falls, which is only 1.5 hours away. I'm planning on a big order soon with all of the maracas, maybe some meds, and our table linens and then going to drive down to pick it all up at once. I refuse to pay obscene Canadian shipping prices + all of the duties and brokerage and taxes!

I shop a lot haha - I've done this for a ton of things

Ah - that makes sense about the maracas! They look good and they're a lot of fun - I think they'll be a hit :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
