Need Favors Ideas, Welcome Bags And What Is Oot Bag? Please

Recommended Posts

Yup! I ship everything to Niagara Falls, which is only 1.5 hours away. I'm planning on a big order soon with all of the maracas, maybe some meds, and our table linens and then going to drive down to pick it all up at once. I refuse to pay obscene Canadian shipping prices + all of the duties and brokerage and taxes!

I shop a lot haha - I've done this for a ton of things

Ah - that makes sense about the maracas! They look good and they're a lot of fun - I think they'll be a hit :)

I thought I posted this above but don't see it - is a pashmina a scarf?

I agree. I also needed somethings that Canadian stores ran out of - like my son's shorts from Old Navy, but the US site had them.   I am closest to Montana, but we are going to be in Kelowna, BC for a week and the WA border is only 1.5 hours so I have been shopping like mad.

I made a little card for the maracas which gets them involved in the reception, so pretty excited about them. I plan to buy a pen from Michaels and personalize them myself.

Can't believe you need your own table linens!!

Oops sorry - a pashmina is a type of wide scarf! Our wedding is in December so it might get a bit chilly in the evenings (for Mexico haha)

I'm just picky w table linens! They have white ones which well be using as well, but I'm getting some special ones too haha. I just want things to look a very specific way :P

What card did u do for the maracas? I'm thinking of doing something along those lines too - like "shake for a kiss" or I might just leave it. I like the idea of personalizing them! I might do that on the handles but I'm so unartisic I'm afraid i might ruin them haha. One of the ladies here (sandy) posted the ones she personalized and they look awesome

I found one on here I loved  'Instead of tapping on your glass, here is a system with Mexican class. Stand and shake with all your might to see the groom kiss his bride tonight'

I put a little married couple kissing (clipart) in the corner.

On the order side I put a thank you note, then our names and wedding info.

That's as per today, sometimes I tend to change my mind!!

All ideas are neat though!!!

I think I plan to attach that and then another one with their names to serve as place cards.

Or just do the place card 'tent'  not sure yet.   Is two cards on a maraca too much?  I will try both.

I am doing nothing fancy. Just names and wedding date.  The maracas already say Mexico.

@@calgarybride2015 @@LisaAnthonyPoppy @@tygrrlily so I rather than giving them a bag with many items, I think I will go for a one single item as a "welcome and thank you for joining us" will plan to give it to them at cocktail reception welcome party with a bomb fire. I am planning to give them say a bubba tumbler inside a customized bag (not a tote just a nice inexpensive bag) and it will have our names and the date on it, then add a kit with s'mores for those who would like to have have some sweets.

One single Item that I though about: customized flip flops, T-shirt, bubba mug, ...thinking...thinking...

Favors: who knows I am so confused because I keep thinking how the heck I am going to bring all that down to Mexico. lol

I really like these labels for mini liquor bottles. My fiance thinks all our guests are lushes and it won`t really be a favor they will keep lol. But I still want to get them.

so cute to use those lables...LOVE THEM and great for a favor

I agree! Seems anytime this happens in today's day and age - which is sad!
If I hadn't have already bought all the supplies and done the inserts I would have said 'go for it!!'
But truth be told, I am super excited to send out a pre-travel letter. I already have so much I want to say on it!!!!
And I think it will get everyone super pumped!!!

can you share a pic of the luggage tag? I think the reason why TA's are not that great anymore is because the business itself might be hard to deal with...many brides prefer to handle all on their own (like us) therefore if they think to do one of those sweet gestures for the bride they might know or feel that the bride does not prefer it that way or they might have had prior experiences...I think ^_^

No, my TA still sucks. Some of the other ladies on this forum have her too and it's the same situation. She starts off great - fantastic even - which hooks you in. But once you book, her response time completely changes. On top of that, she's been on vacation for almost 2 months now and was initially replying, but right now I haven't heard from her personally in over 2 weeks (despite many emails on my end). I have guests trying to book, and we've had to go to our TA's replacement, and then HER replacement b/c she's also on vacation. So we're on our 3rd transfer now, and I don't blame the guy for being slower because it's not his direct clients.  I've sent her an unhappy email already, and I might have to do it again. She got us a good rate, so I am happy about that, but it's frustrating when we have people that WANT to book and give cc info, and have to jump through all of these obstacles just to get contact.

I am using Destination Weddings and the first TA was horrible so I read here about a good one and made a phone call and requested her...I am happy with her now. She is super busy but always replies to my requests and tries to go for recommendations to save us money :). I think we can all help you to get things well done, please let us know anything were we can help :). I like your ideas for the OOT bags too..I am just scared of the final cost per bag and also how i will bring that to Mexico. I think that a good way to avoid the financial pain of the cost is to buy things little by little and that is why i am researching now.

Just and FYI regarding the pre-travel packages your TA sends out- it's part of their job. The tour operator will need the TA to send out a package of "goodies" prior to the guest travelling... It contains things like customs info, flight tickets, AI room vouchers, transfer vouchers, baggage allowance information and sometimes some info on your tour operator's partner for excursions. This is a required step for all package holidays sent out by a TA to every customer, regardless of it being a wedding. Some Tour Operators also send along a travel wallet that it all goes into- and many send out luggage tags to clearly mark the charter airline (a little self promoting for the airport by the operator). This is standard and will go out regardless if you are also doing something more personalized.

If you want to add something more personal in that group of "goodies" going out to your guests, and the TA offers to add to her items with yours- before she mails them out; that's awesome! (And she can't swap out the tour operator luggage tags for your own- as an example) But just keep in mind that she WILL send out her package even if you decline her offer to send yours out alongside hers (or even if she never offers).

Oh of course. Everyone needs their travel info. I never doubted that would go out. I just didn't realize she would send luggage tags so I got some!! She never offered to send mind -- It was a good gesture on her part, she said she now needs to come up with another idea. It's funny that she wants to give us a gift when I have been seeking out a gift to send her. A part of me feels bad I took her idea, I guess she could still send hers. But I think she appreciates the fact I want to do this for my guests.

Yup... Travel/Passport document wallets and luggage tags... I think we have gotten at least one of these gifts each time we travel to an all inclusive via a travel agent. It's why I wasn't sure I would do luggage tags (I'm still not sure!) if I send my pre-travel mailers to my TA to send with the other items, I don't think I will because they will seem obviously redundant- but if I do it myself- I still may include some that are personalized for our group. Since many of the bags coming off the carousel could have the same luggage tag if supplied by the tour operator (usually the case), and something that stands out for just our group would still be fun!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
