Who Does Everyone Plan To Take Dress Shopping With Them?

@@TinkerSofi I thought it was pretty common to bring moms, I'm also really glad I did.  My grandmother won't be going to the wedding but enjoyed the fact that she would be the one of the few to see me in my dress first. When they both burst into tears, I was so glad I had brought them. It did feel like a rite of passage  :D

I'm going dress shopping on Thursday for the first time. I booked the appointment three months ago. My FI's family lives in BC and are coming to visit for a week. Since, because if distance, they won't be involved in much of the planning I thought this would be a great way to incorporate them. I've kept this a secret from them and plan to surprise them with dress shopping and a girls dinner.

On Thursday it will be my mum, my two best friends, my MIL and my FI's nonna. I am VERY nervous about having too many people for my first try on, but knew if I didn't have my best friends there I would be loosing out on valuable opinions.

My mother, the greatest woman I know, will be little help in choosing. Whenever I show her an outfit she always says how amazing it looks. She can't help it. I would never go without her, but can't expect too much help from her.

I'm scared to death about my MIL and FI's nonna coming. I love them and I know how much it will mean to them that I am including them in this process but they are VERY opinionated. I hope they recognize how hard this will be on me and will watch their words.

I also feel bad about not inviting my three other bridesmaids but 5 is a lot and 8 would be out of control.

We are going to a local bridal shop that I went to with my two best friends for their dresses. The staff is amazing so I'm hoping they can also help in making this a fun experience while keeping my entourage in check.

Fingers crossed for a great experience.

I went with my best friend for her appointment, including her and I, she had 8 people total.  She has a big Italian family and some would be offended if they weren't there.  She tried on so many dresses, and left discouraged and you could just see in her face how unhappy she was with all the opinions flying around.  I went to the same store the following weekend with just my mom and sister and the consultant commented on how she normally would never let that many people in for an appointment but did it because she knew her cousin.

I agree with many of you, it depends on who your close to.  My experience was amazing, intimate, celebrated with a champagne toast when I chose the dress and went for lunch after.  My poor bestie still hasn't found her dress, she still has a year and I'm sure she will!

My mom passed away years ago so I felt very self conscious not having her there...my friends were great and I must have gone dress shopping 9 times and I always had great friends with me and my future MIL who was so kind enough to buy me the dress. :)

I just brought my mom and my maid of honor (best friend), I was worried about too many opinions!  For a recent fitting I brought a friend who won't be able to attend the wedding so she could see the dress in person, it was really nice for both of us.

Have a great time!!! It's so fun to find your perfect dress  :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
