Who Does Everyone Plan To Take Dress Shopping With Them?

Have not started looking yet, but may go myself. I know my BFF will probably be upset with me, because I went with all of them, but I kind of just don't care about the dress. I would probably being okay with someone off the rack from Macy's or Bloomies. I just can't seem to see myself spending over $200 for a dress I will wear once. I think they are gorgeous and all, and I sure you all will look amazing, it's just not something I could see myself doing for me.

I felt similar until I got there and put them on. I felt like a princess :) I will still realistic though and although my budget was $1300. I spent $500

@@calgarybride2015 I feel like I am being realistic about price. I honestly can not stomach dropping more then that on a dress. It's part of the reason I just kind of don't want to go, because I just don't want to spend more.

You can still find one within your budget.  David's Bridal had some under $100! check them out!

This is sooo hard to decide. My mom wants it to just be the two of us which I get but I want my wedding party and MIL there. It's hard...

Okay so this wasn't helpful at all besides the share of stress deciding!

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion @@calgarybride2015. I've been to David's quite a few times as I've been around the bridesmaid block quite a few times... I have yet to find one I like there. I also hate the fabric of like 75% of dresses. Honestly, I'd rather be in a cotton sundress and be very happy.

I took my two sisters (who are my bridesmaids) and my aunt. My mother had to work that day so she was unable to go. Needless to say, they were very helpful and I found the dress of my dreams! I know some books and websites say not to bring too large of an entourage because differing opinions can cause a disaster. I think you just have to be really selective about who you want to accompany you - take the people who are tactful and honest. I honestly think my last visit was successful because my mother wasn't there. She is very opinionated and isn't very open minded which made our first trip shopping very difficult.

But anyway, that's my two cents. Good luck in finding your dress! I'm sure it will be beautiful!

Go with who you're happy with being there! It's so easy getting caught up pleasing people but this is YOUR day and you should have who ever you want there - just not a whole entourage. It was important for me to have 2 of my bridesmaids there, my mother and grandmother also came along. I was happy with everyone there to hear feedback :-)

@@Mangosong - Choose whatever you're happy in! David's Bridal does have some awesome prices but if you aren't happy with their dresses then research other places. You'll know when you find the right dress! Good luck!

I went one day with my sister when I was visiting her. Found a dress I loved. Then I came back and went with a friend over here. Found more dresses that I loved and ended up buying the first dress I tried here. Because I live away from home and haven't told most of my family I didn't get to do it with all my sisters and mum.

However, my sister is getting married next month, so I recently experienced what it would be like to go shopping with all of them. That is, a nightmare. Everyone has an opinion. Everyone's opinion is not necessarily yours. You wonder if you actually like any of the dresses and maybe you'll just wear a sack!!! I do feel bad that my mum wasn't there and hasn't even seen a picture of the dress (she's a bit of a troglodyte so I haven't been able to send her one) but I'll show her pics in a couple weeks and she'll be over for my first fitting. I actually can't wait to show her it cause I think it'll be really to her taste as well. :D

My advice is to go maybe once with all your people to have a fun day where you play with pretty dresses. Then pick someone whose judgement you can rely on and who knows and understands your style and bring them for a serious days shopping! Oh and try on a huge puffy cinderella dress at least once!

I took my mom, FSIL and brother to one and my mom and MOH to the other one, where I found the dress :). I don't know if it's tradition to have your mom there but I wouldn't have gone without her. Her opinion was very important for me and when she teared up when I found he dress I was really glad she came . Maybe it's almost like a rite of passage

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
