Who Does Everyone Plan To Take Dress Shopping With Them?

I haven't started looking yet but will likely go with 2 of my bridesmaids (2 live away) and would like to bring my mother... Although she doesn't seem super thrilled about the whole destination wedding in general - making it difficult for me to want to include her  but maybe taking her dress shopping will get her more into the spirit.

I'm not sure how to handle this, but I don't want to go dress shopping with my mother. I live thousands of km away, so normally it wouldn't be a problem, but my sister just had a baby and I have planned a trip home to meet him. Since it will be the only time I will be in the same town as my bridesmaids I was planning to take them shopping for their dresses and possibly look at some myself if we have time. My mother got wind of this and wants to go shopping now.  I love my mother, but I don't want to take her wedding dress shopping. She has terrible taste in clothing and terrible financial sense and I don't want her derailing my plans or trying to talk me into something out of my price range (We're having a very low key wedding, I want to keep my dress under $500) My plans are to look with my bridesmaids a little bit and if that doesn't work, go shopping with my future sister in law when I get home. I'm just not sure what to tell my mother. She will probably be very upset and pout if I just tell her I don't want to go.

I would go with her but let her know you have no intention of choosing a dress that day (leave your credit card at home if necessary) tell her you want to try on silhouettes and get an idea of what makes you feel beautiful but are not ready to purchase yet. Then she can be a part of the process and feel like MoB but not affect your ultimate decision.

I was thinking maybe I could do a second trip with just her or her and my sister if she wanted. And I will definitely have to tell her in advance that I'm not ready to purchase anything yet. Thanks for the advice.

It might be easier to not purchase since you aren't in your home town. I guess they could ship it to your house, but might be easier to buy at home if you have the stores, more selection.

I obviously don't know your situation but throwing out some ideas if you feel more need to justify your decision hehehehe

Have not started looking yet, but may go myself. I know my BFF will probably be upset with me, because I went with all of them, but I kind of just don't care about the dress. I would probably being okay with someone off the rack from Macy's or Bloomies. I just can't seem to see myself spending over $200 for a dress I will wear once. I think they are gorgeous and all, and I sure you all will look amazing, it's just not something I could see myself doing for me.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
