Hi Ladies- I've heard great things about how helpful and sweet people are on this site! I just engaged a couple of weeks ago. We're thinking Jamaica. Anyone have any recommendations for a hotel/resort? All we want is pretty waters and reasonable prices for the wedding and our guests (thinking 60ish people + some kids)!

welcome3.gif to the forum! Congrats on your engagement!!! I am getting married in May at the RIU Ocho Rios in Jamaica. I am having 65+ guests, including some kids. We chose the resort because it is beautiful and also relatively affordable for all of guests. But, there are also a lot of other options in Jamaica. Read through the Jamaica section of the forum and you'll see stuff about Sandals, Beaches, etc etc. Let us know how we can help you!

welcome4.gif to the forum and congrats on your engagement! I chose Sandals Grande Ocho Rios because it is affordable for my guests, an AI that includes several activities that I thought my guests would enjoy, and would allow me to host wedding events without breaking the bank. I'm anticipating about 50+ guests, and having an adult only wedding.

Happy to help in whatever way I can. Happy planning!!

I had the same problem trying to decide. It is hard to find a great resort in Jamaica when you include kids. When it came down to it the Riu hotels seemed beautiful, reasonably priced, has adults, couples, singles, children and plus there are tonnes of brides on here to help you. I choose Ocho Rios because it looks so beautiful!

THANK YOU EVERYBODY! You guys are so helpful!!! Can someone email me a general idea of how much it costs for your guests for a room at Riu Ocho RIos for 3-4 days? Is there a reason nobody did a wedding at any of the other jamaica Riu hotels? how far is it from the airport? THANKYOU!cheer2.gif

The costs will depend on what time of year you are planning on going.

There are a few other brides on the forum that have chosen other resorts besides the RIU in Jamaica. See: (for Sandals Grande Ocho Rios - IrieBride08, and for Beaches - see Carlymcmullen) These are just the ones I remember off the top of my head. There may be a few more. Everyone is so helpful here so you will for sure find the information you need.

As far as distance from the airport - I think its about 65 miles away.

Hope this helps!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
