Making Bouquets?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone made their own bouquets? The quotes I am getting are crazy expensive - I'm tossing around the idea of getting flowers from a market or Costco when I'm on Mexico and making them. Anyone else?

Hey @@chelseapaige37

I was originally planning on making them. I had flowers bought at Michael's and am now going to return them. I can't seem to find any nice coral flowers because that's one of the colors in my wedding. Anyway I am going to purchase them on Ebay now and not bother with making them. There are some very good sellers on there that can customize them for you. I got one quote yesterday for $199 and that's for my bouquet, 4 bridesmaids, 4 groomsman bouts, grooms bout, and 2 mother corsages.

Have a look do a search for Bridal bouquets and see what you find.

If you are considering using fresh flowers and having someone pick them up at Costco the morning of the wedding, I would be too nervous to do that' seeing that inventory changes daily at Costco there would be no guarantee on Colors or flowers available! I guess if you didn't have a set color scheme and weren't fussy on what types of flowers you used, it could save money- but depending on your resort- Any savings could be lost in taxi fare to/from the flower store!

I was thinking more that I would pre order when I get there since I am going to be there 10 days before the wedding. Then I would pick them up the day before and assemble them the day before.

I wouldn't assemble them the day before if fresh- they will not survive well. From past experience making bouquets for family weddings locally- you really need to assemble them the morning of the wedding for them to be perfect. Especially with the heat of Mexico. even making them in the am, and keeping them cool- we have found bouquets start to open a lot be ceremony time. I wouldn't want the stress on me as the bride. If you have someone you trust and who is experienced with it, maybe assign them to the task- you don't want to be worrying about doing that the morning of your wedding. JMO!

I would be careful if you are buying them outside the resort, make sure you double check that there are no penalties.

I get charged a $300 penalty from my resort if I decide to use an outside flower shop. So I am basically forced to order from their ridiculously expensive flowers.

Just something to keep in mind ;)

I considered making my own, I considered them carrying pinwheels, I considered them carrying nothing.... then I thought to myself, all I want my bridesmaids to carry is 3 daisies tied with ribbon so I requested a quote from my WC and they are only $22 each. WOW! I was expecting way more, so I decided to get flowers. Since my bouquet is included, it is actually quote budget friendly.

Did you get a quote already from your resort?

Just thinking if you wanted something fairly basic for them it may be decently priced.

I know my bouquet is more expensive, because I wanted to be upgraded in size from small to medium (my package includes small) and that was $42!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
