@@Meandhim   I have chosen the ocean pearl package. it seemed to have everything I needed but I am adding on the private reception since we are having so many people.  I guess we find out if the reception will be help at the arricife or el bohio when we get there.

@@dreia85, I'm also interested in that list. Can I PM you my email address?

We are having a welcome reception at the buffet restaurant, they are just sectioning off an area for us, so that may be an option if you guys have a larger group.

Planning is going well, almost there only 74 days away! The biggest thing that I am trying to work on now is shipping alcohol to the Jelly fish for our favors. Fedex will ship alcohol internationally but only from a licensed seller to a licensed distributor. So I just need to find a vendor to ship it from this end. But Ive given myself a deadline and then I' mjust gonna scrap the idea.

How is planning  going for you guys. @@Meandhim, we're getting really close, eeek!

Glad to see everyone is back and active on here. It's been a while!

Our wedding is just after/before all of yours, and I'm happy to say I've finally made some decisions!

We will do a welcome cocktail party at which we will give out our welcome bags. We will also host a rehearsal dinner at one of the buffet restaurants (any suggestions?) the day before our wedding to which all of guests will be invited (not just the wedding party).

We have chosen the Ocean Pearl package and decided to go with the private reception so that we can do music and speeches during dinner. Then we will do the beach bash and have decided to go with the DJ.

Lastly, I have decided to do both my hair and makeup at the spa to avoid any added stress or pressure for myself and my BM will get their hair done at the spa as well.

Woohoo! We have just over 100 days left to go and I feel so accomplished!

How is everyone else's planning going?? What other choices is everyone deciding on? I can't help but think that there are things I'm forgetting about lol.

I am glad to know that there is an option for having a welcome-type reception at the buffet.  I think I am going to inquire about this.  I was trying to think of the best way to get everyone together and this is a really great option!  Are they charging you extra to do this?

I am currently torn about what kind of music to have play during the ceremony.  I like the idea of having the musical trio play during the ceremony, but I am nervous about my choices of music.

Has anyone heard anything about their DJ?  I am choosing the DJ for my reception, but again, I am nervous about whether I will get choices of music or if they just do everything.

The next big task to get done if going to the Dominican Consulate to get all of our documents!

Its all starting to feel so real :)

@@Beachgirl622 time is flying by!!!

The DJ is DJ Mania... I've read a ton of good reviews which is why I decided to go with the DJ. I was nervous about it first too because I'm from Newfoundland so we of course want some Newfoundland music... So I emailed DJ Mania and they have some... And If they have that they must have everything...lol. I asked if I should send a list of must have songs and songs we like and he said sure. Meanwhile I'm still going to bring my Must haves on a disk/ USB/ iPod as a back up just in case. Better safe than sorry!

@@Meandhim Oh wow, I am glad to hear it is DJ Mannia. I read a lot of great reviews, so that makes me feel better! I actually emailed them for prices just in case I decided to use someone else.

@@dreia85 I am also worried about the hair and makeup at the spa, but I feel hopeful since I will have a trial.  They are listed as mac makeup artists, so at least I know they are trained.  A recommendation if your straight hair may not hold well is to buy some hair extensions/pieces to help your hair look more full if your hair goes flat.

Is anyone using the photographer from the hotel?  Any reviews or thoughts about them?

@@dreia85 Thank you for the email. I also found a website called dominicanfavors.com that have some nice options also for favors/gifts

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
