Out oot bags will contain:

-A personalized mug for each guest

-2 candles decorated with burlap, ribbon and starfish

- a deck of personalized playing cards

-a letter from us thanking them for coming

- a do not disturb door hanger (personalized for the wedding)

-ugly fabric for people to tie on their luggage (so others with the wedding can help pull luggage off the carousel)

-dryer sheets (I've never been to this resort before but I've had musty rooms at other resorts.. I put a dryer sheet in the a/c unit to freshen the air up)

-an itinerary

-map of the resort (got a PDF of one from Carolina.. Not the best but it gives people an idea of what the resort is like)

I am going to be at the airport first so that I can give everyone their bags before they check their luggage.. That way they can put the fabric on their checked bags and I don't have to carry all the bags all the way down there... They can carry their own lol.

The checklist is the same as the original excel one she sent us.. Plus you need to send her all the names of the people coming to the wedding.

@ Mel84 You wedding is so CLOSE!! How exciting!! I think I'm going to order my earrings from Etsy...I have really just started so I'm sure I'll find so much more to buy! Look out Boxing Day Sales!!!! woohooo

@@Kerrierf Love the Garter!

@@shevette925 your date is just before mine! I'll be interested to see how your planning is going??

Are all of you guys doing a legal wedding? we are planning to do a renewal...and just get married a few weeks before we go...this will save a bit of money...but also my Nan cannot get travel insurance to travel out of Canada anymore and I want her to be involved...she will be my witness.

My problem is that this package is not well described like the Karen Bussen Packages...it says I have decorations but it doesn't say what...and does anyone know what the decorations are like for the reception? If anyone has information from Carolina about extras: DJ, Makeup, Decor Flowers? Etc. And are any of you guys thinking of having a private reception and using DJ mania?

I'm so excited I'm thinking of 100 things at once!! EEEEEE!

Hey ladies,

So sorry I have been MIA for so long. Things have been very busy  but we have been very productive. I found a dress and we have about 60 confirmed guest at this point which is amazing. All of my friends think I am crazy because we have been doing things so early lol.  We are also doing a symbolic ceremony like @@Meandhim.

Where I am stuck right now is the photographer. What are you guys doing?  it is 500 dollars to have an outside vendor to come to the hotel which is crazy! but it is one of the few things that we are okay with paying a bit more for. Is there a website for the hotel photographer?

@@Mels84, the big day is coming up soon. Can't wait to hear how it goes for you.

So exciting to see how much progress everyone is making!

@@shevette925 I'm with you about getting things done ahead of time! It's key to being able to relax and actually enjoy the process instead of stressing over it all.

Our photographer is one of our guests.  My cousin is a professional photographer and her and her husband do amazing work.  We did our engagement shoot with them and had so much fun that we really wanted them to do our wedding too.  We're paying for their trip, but it's actually cheaper, or at least comparable, to getting an outside photographer there (I wasn't too fond of their suggested vendor: http://www.photoshopcaribe.com/).

@@Meandhim we're doing a legal ceremony.  It's more of a hassle (with translating the documents and everything) but I didn't want to do a legal ceremony at home and another ceremony elsewhere.

Nice to see you back and happy that you finally have been able to put plans together! How exciting! You've picked a nice time of the year too! It looks like we're going to be able to go ahead with our renewal next October so I guess I'll have some planning to start after the holidays.

Glad everything worked out for you!

We got married in Dominican last November and have photographed two other weddings since. The best advice we can give, is to not over think the small stuff, but be as organized as possible before the date gets too close. Most of the time, what you send them before you arrive is never really looked at. They are pro at planning your wedding the day before the main event. Crazy!

The hardest part is doing the legal documents (especially if you are born outside of Canada/US/UK). Get that done asap, in case of any unforseen issues pop up.

For the OOT bags...oh that was the fun part :) I found that the first aid kits were very much appreciated. I had little canvas bags made up https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/ClementineWeddings?ref=l2-shopheader-name andput in some Tyenol, tums, bandaids and alcohol wipes. Fans, were also very much needed in the heat (I wanted to get some parasols too as they are great for shade and photos, but didn't have enough room to pack them) We also did the reusable insolated mugs for everyone so their drinks stayed nice and cold. The other hit was little packages of Tide handwash laundry soap from Shoppers.  We had beach bags made up from etsy https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/WhiteAppleThreads that were absolutely amazing for the price.

As for photographers, this is where I am biased. Dominican photographers have a very different style, so as long as you are happy with it, then you are good to go. If you prefer more documentary photos capturing the full day, bring a photographer from home so that you can build a relationship before leaving. It will also be more reassuring that if anything goes wrong after, you have a contact to get in touch with. Feel free to check out our work at https://www.facebook.com/oinkandcoo

Also, do not rely on hair and makeup at the resort. Again, very different style to what is seen as natural and beachy...

Hope this helps :)

Lauren

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
