Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?

Recommended Posts

That is how they really make their money! I am just trying to stick with my original plan of keeping it simple. Maybe adding a few things, if they will bring a lot to the wedding, but otherwise sticking with simple!

This is my plan also! But the more I keep doing research, the more I see beautiful photos of these "extras" and I want them more!!! Haha

ha ha right!  That's the problem with weddings and then you say to yourself (or its my fiance saying to me) "its only our wedding once" and keep justifying extra costs.  Surprisingly I am the one who has to say no to him all the time! lol

So, after my suggestion, I just had a mini-freak out as well. I did a quick total on our wedding so far.. oh my goodness.. that's all I am going to say about that.

But, with that being said, I guess I still have plenty of time to find alternatives to save a little $$.

I just need to remember, we are getting married and it will be beautiful no matter what. And, no one is going to remember the napkins or overlays.

*Ok, I think I am done trying to be a cheerleader for myself* lol

Exactly!!  Don't worry about the little stuff, I promise no one will notice and really no one cares.  They are just there to see you get married and have fun!  I have been using the budget on wedding wire to add up costs and you can put in how much you have paid to see how much you owe.  It was super helpful because my fiance keeps wanting to add everything and I keep saying no.  Finally I sat him down and went through the budget line by line and he was shocked at the total.

I have tried putting things I to a budget....but then I get scared off!! We are still trying to keep costs in line and will wait to see how many we have booked in the end! That will be the real deciding factor in what extras we can add in!!

I'm using wedding wire budget too. Right now the estimated cost is at 16000, so 1000 over our budget but I know I can cut on some things. It's always the little things that add up so quickly

I have a budget tracker set up and everything has been plugged in with estimated costs and... it gave me a minor heart attack LOL. We're so much over what we originally wanted to spend on our wedding, but like everyone else said we've got the "once in a lifetime" mentality".

But I do think that even if I had my wedding at home, I STILL would have been shocked by the price tag. There are just too many complicating factors (family, tradition, religion, etc.) that are forcing me to have a bigger/fancier wedding than my wallet would like. So I'm just sucking it up and embracing my inner princess even as my inner feminist cringes haha.

We are at about $16,000 too, I originally only wanted to spend $12,000 but knew that was wishful thinking and impossible.  My fiance can spend money like it grows on trees, I am much more frugal, despite our income.  If we were to do a wedding here it would be easy $20,000 for just the ceremony and reception not including much else and that just didn't seem worth it to me!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
