Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?

Recommended Posts

I have found that in the beginning of my wedding planning I was adding everything and everything.  The closer it gets to the big day and the more I am reading on here, I have started to cross some stuff off my list.  A photographer was extremely important to me so that is my big cost.  You just need to decide what is most important and pick those things first.  I know a lot of people forgo a typical cocktail hour and have guests meet in the lobby bars to save on some cost.  Also, I don't think I am doing any ceremony guides.  That will allevate some costs for us.  Especially since we are doing welcome bags with all of the same info.  Hope this helps :)

@@NickiLynn1116  Definitely important to decide what's most important and cross things off your list. As I continue to move further in planning and get closer to the date, I will have to do the same. Hopefully I can manage to keep budget under control!

Me too! I've been a budget nazi hehe but that said, I have splurged and pushed the boundaries when I realize it's important to me. I wasn't going to do OOT bags but really loved the cup idea (we loved this idea from the second we got engaged) so I compromised on the cup we chose and then decided I could cut out one date night to fill them lol.

I still don't fully understand the programs. Our wedding is short and sweet and people know how it goes. By the time we get married everyone will be aquatinted. Also the menus - we are having a Buffett so walk up and see lol. I'm more casual and see this as more formal.

We got engaged in April. Picked a resort early May. We decided we wanted all wedding funds saved by November (wedding in January) so we feel a crunch but are over half way there and I'm proud we've done so well.

I'm on the same boat.  We're planning on having a large number of guests joining us for our destination wedding - 50+.  What's quickly adding up for us is the additional per person charge for every person after the first 25 guests (that's included in our wedding package).  So, like many brides here, we are trying to prioritize what's important to us and doing a whole lot of DIY'ing!

our guest list is getting out of control as well haha! On one side it's great because the more the merrier but then the costs come in and ouch! A couple of days before the booking deadline many had not booked and we thought that we'd have a 30 people wedding. Just when I had come to terms with the fact that we'd have a smaller wedding than we thought everyone booked and now we have close to 50 guests! About 10 are not staying at our hotel but that's ok. Yesterday I also found out that the land only costs for my family from Argentina is much less than we had thought, so here we are with the possibility that some might be able to make it  :D

It's such a double edged sword isn't it?

I am so happy so many people are coming but I also went 'ouch' when I realized just how many had RSVP'd.

I know, I feel awful feeling that way. I am really glad that they're all coming but when the bill comes in, different story haha, especially because the bill is in USD!

@@calgarybride2015, LOL it is!

@@TinkerSofi, that's so exciting that you'll have so many guests joining.  And that's great news that family from Argentina will be able to join, especially that it will cost them less than anticipated! :)

@@BrideToBeJolie yeah! they said they will run some numbers and let me know. I really hope they can make it but I also don't want to get my hopes up. I'm hoping that I can help them with one free person and spread that among everyone coming from over there so everyone gets a bit of a discount.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
