Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?

Recommended Posts

We are hoping to stay under $15,000 - I'm hoping we can stick to that! I was hoping to keep guest list down but my fiancé is mister popular and has a huge family so that may not happen. I was super excited finding a wedding dress for under $500. I went shopping yesterday and bought 2 dresses (ceremony and civil dresses), 2 of the 4 bridesmaids dresses, preservation kit, 2 veils, belt - for less then $1,500! Even when I add on the other 2 bridesmaids dresses I will still be under 2,000 - which is pretty awesome.

Just sent out STD's today so I'm hoping our number of people who actually book isn't too crazy!

@@TinkerSofi I can't let my FI see that your band was $600... He will kill me! Mine is $2200!!! (The matching one to my e-ring). I told him that was standard for bands! Shhhhhhhhh

Our budget is going out the window... We are now looking at about 85 who will book by our deadline in a month, (62 booked as of today), and I'm realizing that even with DIY projects, the entertainment and private events alone are gonna put me well over the $15,000 we were hoping to spend on the actual wedding itself. Thankfully we have earned credits with our TA making our travel cost free and having some more remaining to help cover the costs of our kids and help a few family members... But it's certainly not cheap. Oh well! It will be a trip of a lifetime and a perfect way to start our new life as a family.

haha well if anything I think it's the one thing that you should be spending money on, the ring. Like I said, it will be the only thing from the wedding that you will actually use forever. I personally had to pick the one that matched because it was so perfect haha. You could always blame it on him and say that he chose the e-ring to begin with hahaha.

So far i think we will get 3 free people. 2 of which we will use for Juan's mom and one of his sisters because they're coming from Colombia and their trip will be around $3000 each  . The other one I'll probably give to my parents because they're helping us out with a lot of costs so it should cover my brother's trip :)

TOTALLY! Though I think my walking suuuuuper slow past Tiffany every time we walked by made it a bit obvious which ring I wanted- so he didn't make the decision blindly! Hahaha.... I would go with a non-matching band but it would look funny and really- like you said, it's the one thing from the wedding that I will see every day! I will only see the Mariachi for 20 mins before taking off for pictures and that is the cost of 1/2 my ring! So it's a total bargain really!

LOL!!!

My band would have cost that IF I went custom!   My original e-ring was very modern and odd shaped. I would have had to get a custom band and it made me sick because it's hard to justify a cost of something you potentially might not like. I am a very visual person so I couldn't wrap my head around a drawing coming to life.

I decided to change in my e-ring for another - it was from Spence so I got to keep my original diamond - I ended up with something that is much more me.   My band was only $609 I believe... and it's platinum!  mine is dainty almost like a rope.. hard to explain.. love it!

When I went back to change my ring I swear I could have spent hours in there and drove myself mad.  I kept going back to the one ring from the first day I was in there so I knew it was the one... but was very fun to try them all on!

It sure is! You almost want to try them all on. Even the ridiculous ones that are like $30,000 haha. I still have no idea how in the world I chose one.

I went with my dad to pick out a ring for my mom for their 25 anniversary and I chose one that is pretty similar to mine haha

haha my fiance went with his mom and she was picking up the $30000 rings!  but, I picked up a $100,000 ring so I was worse.  I like dainty things so it narrowed it down as I didn't want a thick band.

Did you post yours on the ring thread? would love to see it.  I posted mine in there with my wedding band on too.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
