Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?

Recommended Posts

I go back and forth between panic attacks. Our wedding is in April, and I am trying to pay for as much now as possible, just in case something happens. I have almost all of our gifts bought, and I am working on the OOT bags now. We still have to buy flights though, and although our stay at the resort, every 11th person is free and we have 19 ppl so far, we still have to pay for our stay and then get reimbursed. I am banking on being reimbursed asap so that will pay for our wedding, since Riu has you pay for that when you get there. ugh. I feel your pain, kind of, our budget is no where near that.

When I did my budget I also banked on those bonuses!!!   So I felt that stress when alot of people were VERY slow to RSVP!!

It's always such a trade-off between "stay in budget it's only one day" and "this is a once in a lifetime event and needs to be celebrated how you want it". I'm trying to keep my head on my shoulders but it's so hard when looking at all those blogs of amazing weddings with all the natural flowers and the whole 9 yards.

If it was up to my FI we'd be having a cavemen wedding, seriously. Every time he says things like "why do we need favor gifts for?" or "we don't need centerpieces, right?" I asked him what would his wedding look like if he was the only one planning. He said that he would give everyone fanny packs with all the utensils and everything they needed and just put the all food on a table so people would serve themselves. OMG,FANNY PACKS!! haha well thank god this is not one of those "surprise weddings for the bride". On the other hand he keeps me grounded when I'm just dreaming off about some unnecessary detail that costs too much money.

Bahha your fiance is hilarious! Love the fanny pack comment!!

Those surprise weddings are romantic, but I'm too much of a planner to actually enjoy it haha. I'd want to know and plan every single detail :P

My FI is laid back in that he doesn't care about specific details, but he wants a nice wedding too. He's actually pushing the budget for some things more than I am, and he was surprised I budgeted on certain things. But he has no idea how much all of the little things cost, and how quickly it all adds up!

Yeah he does always have pretty hilarious comments haha. I think my fiance just kind of gave up and is letting me do my thing unless he thinks it's too ridiculous. We're usually on the same page but some things take some convincing. I've always been the planner in our relationship so we're used to him giving me a list of things he wants and I just have to make sure to include them in the plans :). The thing is his list includes the bigger details and he wants to spend the money there but it's sometimes it's the smaller details that totally blow up the budget. Some things are not super important and people won't remember them later but some other ones I think add a nice touch and just add to the whole atmosphere of the wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
