Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?

Recommended Posts

Same! Weddings are SO old news to my friends since they are all full-steam-ahead in the baby making stage and aren't all that interested in my wedding details. Some fake interest more than others! Ha.

In fact, I'm fully preparing myself for my sister, future sister-in-law, and best friend to all be pregnant for my wedding. Hopefully not so pregnant that they can't even travel...

Yeah a lot of my friends are married too and I find once they finished with all their wedding planning they don't want to be messing around with someone else's. I don't really ever talk about my plans with them because it just seems they get bored or don't want to hear me talk about it. They go onto a different subject, like what their kids are doing that day. So that's why I come on here because it's nice to talk about it with people who are planning a wedding the same time.

Since I announced that we are doing a destination wedding, out of our guests there are 3 that have since become pregnant. 2 of them are still hoping go and bring their newborns with them. (don't know if that will happen) and the other person decided she was going as soon as she found out.

sorry wasn't going

That is the tough part, my sister is waiting to get pregnant till after the wedding.  But she just got married in December and is using the wedding as their honeymoon too.  But our photographer will have a 5 month old then so she can't do it anymore.  Hopefully no one else will get pregnant but that is up in the air as I know a couple of friends were going to start for the next one soon.  Luckily they were "maybes" from the beginning

Yeah I'm on the same page talking about the wedding. I have one friend I feel comfortable with talking about the wedding. She's amazing - finished w her wedding, pregnant now and planning on bringing her baby to Mexico, but she still gets genuinely excited for me and wants to hear details. A lot of other ppl I feel like they're just being polite by asking and they change the subject to babies or houses very soon after. So besides her, my sister and mom and you guys, I feel fine with the wedding talk! I feel weird talking about it too to people that aren't coming. My moh/best friend dropped out of our wedding and our friendship hasn't been the same since unfortunately.

Kristy, we're planing for 40 ppl too and btw, Vanessa is MIA again :S

MIA Again? Do you mean she didn't respond back to you in a while or she is somewhere else now? I haven't contacted her since last week and she didn't contact me either. She is supposed to send us our flight details since me and Nathan had too book those separately but I haven't received anything yet. I should send her another reminder email. Urgh

I also enjoy seeing what everyone is up to wedding wise on here! Everyone seems to have great ideas! My FI also doesn't get any of the money spending!! He is finally resigned to just letting me do my thing really! He knows I am also pretty frugal so it's not too crazy!

When I went dress shopping he thought long and hard about my "budget" and settled on $500. I smiled. But then I just couldn't drop $1500+ on a dress so I ended up buying a knockoff from China! It fits perfect and was well under his budget! I am tying to shop around for things that I know I want and just buy it when I see a deal!

Found FI's tie and shoes at the bay during bay days. The ring bearers outfits are from OldNavy when they were on sale, flower girls dress off Babysteals.com...

So when I spent $2500 on our photographer it was a little easier! And I think I got a great deal with that! He is from my FI hometown so we did our engagement shoot last week while we were there. And he is coming to the wedding week and doing a TTD after the wedding!

I have no idea where she is. I've sent her 4 emails this week and still no reply. Still getting the in South America until August 4 reply, but at least before she'd reply as well. Our best man and his wife booked this week w two other couples, and Vanessa said it was fine then Michelle emailed the best man saying the deposit wasn't being accepted for some reason (not a cc issue but an availability one) and I've been in contact w Michelle about it.

I sent Vanessa the info of a single to book, and nada. I'm going to send his info to Michelle I suppose. I can't rmbr - Is that what you ended up doing?

Our hotel/flight is booking up FAST and I want them booked and secured! Argh

She is lucky we're not starting a "do not book with ***" thread. But once our weddings are over!

I feel your pain on the costs adding up.  When we booked our wedding i was thinking "it's an all inclusive" everything is paid for...  We paid $4000 for our reception.  We didn't have to but that was the only private option available at this resort.  I didn't even consider OOT bags till I started reading this website.  Now I am determined to do them. I only have 10 to do and I am picking things up bit by bit.  But yes the cost is climbing daily!

The private reception thing was one of the deciding factors in selecting my resort.  Luckily it was part of the wedding package and we don't have to pay extra for that.

I never really even thought about it until after we booked. I was sort of clueless I guess. Which resort are you at?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
