Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?

Recommended Posts

hahaha @@pddcmc oh yeah I forgot about your wedding being on the same day as mine. We are down to 9 months today girl. Eeeeek. I called about my dress too yesterday and they said it will be in around the last 2 weeks of Sept. I can't wait to get it.

Yeah I think the cups are great because I believe they will become useful to our guests. I ordered the cups on discountmugs and then I ordered waterproof stickers with davetdesigns I do believe on Etsy. I can't wait to receive them both.

You should have a look @@Sabes44 if this is something you would be planning.

I will definitely look into that, thanks for the tip @@kcole123!  Now I know why so many other gals love this site.  So helpful and nice to get tips from others that are doing the same thing!!

I think we will do a bag, room key/money holder, door hanger and an inflatable pool float mattress (since our resort doesn't have them but allows people to bring their own or purchase in gift shop). And then with rooms with kids I will put in beach toys or some sort of small activity. I will also have a small "survival kit" with asprin, tums and aloe.

Those are great ideas @@kmk2016. I am going to do kids bags up as well. Just dollar store items to fill them like crayons and coloring books just in case for raining days. Some beach toys but nothing too big because I don't want that taking up too much room...lol Just enough to give them something as well in a bag. I am also giving them cups as well. They are smaller kids, toddlers, so I might just buy sippy cups at the dollar store or something. Oh did I mention I love the dollar store...lol

@@kcole123 - Which mugs did you order? I was thinking about getting ours from there. Have you received everything and put your stickers on yet? I'd love to see pictures :)

And oh my goodness! You're right! Wow 9 months...

I ordered just the clear tumblers with the straws. they came to like $2.16 each. I ordered 40 of them. I ordered clear because the stickers I ordered are coral with white lettering. I didn't want any colored tumblers to clash with them. So I figured that will look good. Don't worry as soon as I have them both I am posting a pic of them. @@pddcmc

I am starting to feel the same way. When my fiance and I started talking about a DW we originally wanted simple, no fuss, fun day. Now I have let my original feeling on the day get muffled by the excitement of it all. I think we are going to have to go back to our original ideas but spruce them up with personal touches of us.

The idea that we wanted a simple, easy to plan wedding in paradise sort of gets lost in the shuffle of all these beautiful ideas. I read through some of the things here and I'm all gung ho to do some of them. But we'll be lucky if we have 6 people with us so for me, I look at them but they just aren't practical. It's the same with the wedding packages at a resort. Why would I pay for a light up dance floor for 6 people? I absolutely LOVE the idea, but again, it's just not practical. And it isn't our wedding. We're already married. I really would rather have a more intimate set up. Paying for one of the wedding packages and being boxed into a 1 hour semi private in a resort restaurant again just doesn't do it for me for a group of about 6. We would look really silly. So I've just remade some of the plans.

Think about what is really important to you and how many people you're going to have. Plus, who those people actually are. Are they people that will expect things to be over the top, or are they people that you know will be just as happy with simple things. Look at your priorities and where you know you really do need to spend money, and where you know you really don't need to. Make a pros and cons list if you have to, or a wants and needs list. It might help you put things in perspective and really work with the budget that you've set for yourself.

I 100% understand @@MissJen3

It can get overwhelming with what you can buy. But my wedding I still want to keep simple. I am just having to cut out some of the less important things and keep mainly what I want. I think everything I have now and ordered are enough of what I need for guests. I just need to order gifts for the bridesmaids (which I totally don't know what I am getting yet). Then I am just needing accessories for myself for my dress. I don't need that much. I am making my own flower sash for my dress. And seeing how I am making that just as well to make my flower for my hair too. My mom bought me a beautiful pearl set with earring. So all I need really is a good bra, shoes, and that's pretty much it.

Agreed!  For me (and I think many on here) are doing a destination wedding because the background is the decor so you can get away with a lot less than a white, blank boring hotel ballroom that is the norm.  Keep it simple, people are there to have fun not criticize what you did for your wedding.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
