Needing Accessories...any Suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies I am looking for suggestions!

I have two dresses, one long one for the ceremony and a short one for the reception.

For the first dress I already Have:

Bracelet from Be Chic Boutique Danforth Ave, Toronto. It a snow white Druzy stone on a hammered gold bangle.

and Shoes from Payless

But I don't know what else.....should I wear a veil? birdcage? flower? hair up? or down? necklace? earrings? I am really bad at putting things together and I don't want to look like a mess.

The second dress I bought so I can do some dancing...I tried on a 1" sparkly belt with it in the store and loved it..bought the dress but not the belt...it cost more than the dress...so I thought I'd  look for a belt else where first..hopefully one with clasps instead of a ribbon tie...but can't seem to find one that is thin enough...where did you get your belts ladies?

Also someone I know (with out naming names) said that the 2nd dress looks a little childish and said I'm just going to look like a little girl. Should I even wear it!? I can kind of see her point looking at the picture with the ribbon belt..but with the sparkle belt I'm sure it was better...I dont even know anymore...what else could I do make a little more "grown up"?

I'm not a very "sexy" or "Grown up" looking person in general...I'm 34 and still get mistaken for a student so some help in this department would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

@@Meandhim where is your wedding taking place?  I LOVE your first dress!!  The second one is cutesy and fun if thats' what you are going for.  But think the first one is more "grown up" and "sexy" not sure how you envision yourself on your wedding day...?

Hi,

Seems like you are going with a relaxed look. I think a small veil would be nice with chandelier earrings and a necklace. The second dress looks fun. Maybe add some different shoes (silver or gold heels) to look sexy.

@Meandhim  Ok so first - what's your preference for your hair? What month have you decided on for your wedding? How hot will it be? Are you comfortable with your hair up? Have you tried any veils on yet to see how they look? Just remember - there are really no rules. it's what you're comfortable with. Did you try any veils with your dress when you bought it?

I love your dress, and just my personal opinion, I wouldn't want to change out of it. I think it looks beautiful on you. You could always wear your short dress if you're having any welcome events, or a rehearsal event. Even if you decide to change for your reception, I would keep your shoes because I think they're adorable!! i would try to dress up the short dress a little just to make it a bit more sophisticated. Have you checked out Davids for belts/sashes? They tend to be a bit better priced. Definitely I think get rid of the bow. It does make it look a bit girly. Sparkle will help to dress it up as well. It is still your wedding, so you still want to shine!!

I agree with @@acw271011!  I was thinking about getting a second dress for the reception too, but I doubt I will want to change out of it day of!  We are legally getting married here the weekend before our wedding, just the two of us.  I am planning on getting a short, white, cute/fun dress for that and wearing it at the welcome reception too.

I think a little sparkle is a great idea, just  a  touch can go a long way!

Well

Are you going with hair up or down? Heat might be a deciding factor. and you want to show off the second dress by having your hair up. for me I am having hair up because mainly of the heat. I don't want my hair to end up with a big tangled blob on the back of my neck...lol

Flower or veil? If you want to keep it simple, go with either a birdcage veil or flower. I love both

Sash on dress or no sash?

You can do earrings and leave out the necklace so that way it suits both dresses. And you have a bracelet so that would be just perfect.

You have your shoes which are pretty awesome by the way. I am going to get wedge shoes too. And those ones you have are lovely. I was thinking maybe Tom's wedges but yours look prettier.

Let us know what you decide. Mainly go with your style and what you like. This are just my opinions and what I like...lol

Thanks Ladies

@@Sabes44 My wedding is going to be in Punta Cana...I guess the look I'm going for for my wedding is I would like to look like "Me" so I'm not so big on "Glamorous" or "Sexy" more Relaxed or boho or Just fun..without looking child like!

@@acw271011 I LOVE my first dress too... I love how great it looks with my shoes...how tall it makes me..( I'm a Runt)..However I am not a person who wears shoes...I wish I was...I could probably make it down the isle and back without falling, pose for a few pictures but after that I want those things off! I'm also a big on dancing! I plan on having a blast at my reception! Me and my dad have been dancing to a fast Newfoundland waltz / polka since I was old enough to step on his toes,  the second dress is going to suit all that jumping and hopping much better! Shoes are just out of the questions so it will be barefoot or sandals for later in the evening for sure.

@@kcole123 You are right about the heat being the deciding factor..The shoes were from payless they were only 40 bucks and they are pretty comfy..I have a pair on red Tom wedges they are nice too.

So I have now narrowed down some of my choices I guess

Hair: Some close to this or a mixture of all three...which on is better?

Earrings: Found these on Etsy, they match my bracelet.

Il 570xN.542786478 914p

Veil: I made one like this for my friend for her wedding so Maybe on like this? With a birdcage for the ceremony and just the flower for the reception? Thoughts?

or Something like this with real flowers

Sandals: For the second dress...possible small wedge? Saw these online but can't find where to buy them or something similar

d9308e47465efa66d0af62683f08a8b0

And as for the belt is has to be thin ( about 1"), I was thinking a little gold-ish colour to match my jewellery, without looking like too much...

dc44601f3e34d22065214778df6d0ac2

but I would like it to go all the way around and clip instead of half way and tie with ribbon. Any one know where I can get something like that? Send me some links / Pictures if you do! I checked Davids bridal and found on that looks nice but it is a tie belt and silver....it will be my back up in case I cant find what I'm looking for.

I love the second and third hair styles. It looks so pretty with the braid in there. The first flower for your hair is beautiful. Sandels are really nice.

Did you try Etsy for the belt?

@@kcole123 I did try Etsy but I have't found anything yet... I will keeping looking. if you see something while on there feel free to send it to me! I guess my next move is to try all the bridal stores in town...I am going to Apple Valley California in august to see my FI sister so I'm going to look there too.

My Hair normally is more like the third picture or the picture with the real flowers..kind of  wavy / Messy...I think you are right about the hair style the first one is too dressy for me I think.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
