Question For Past Brides That Did Trash The Dress

Recommended Posts

Question for those that did the trash the dress photo sessions.   How long did it take for your dress to dry?

we are getting married on a Tuesday and were thinking of doing a trash the dress session either the day after or Thursday.  We are going to do pictures on beach in the sand and partial in ocean/pool.    I know I can hang dry it and also have the resort dry clean it.   Just worried it won't be dry or ready since we depart on Friday afternoon.

Do you think a day or two is enough time for my dress to be cleaned or should I use another dress?

I do have another wedding dress that is very light weight, typical destination dress.   However, its from my previous marriage.  I just never was able to re-sell it.  I really wouldn't care if that one got ruined or even left behind.   I just feel really weird using it for this.

What do you all recommend?

whatever you decide dont use your other dress from another marriage lol....Im not married yet but I would think that most dress should dry fairly quick I would rather hang it to dry then take to dry cleaners on the resort lol...Depending on the wedding dress you get most of them if not all you can take some of the tool out to make the dress even lighter.. just a thought!!!

It may not dry up tbh. I stayed in Mexico a few weeks ago and it was soooo humid even the clothes we didn't use that stayed in our luggage was slightly damp. Even any paper stationary in our room, money, etc felt damp.

I never understood the logic to trash a perfectly beautiful dress when there are so many ladies out there that would love to have a beautiful second hand dress at a more affordable cost.

I spent 25 dollars on my lacy sundress that I can wear at any other occasion during the summer months.

It makes me sad that people kill their wedding dresses when they could bring so much joy to someone else.

Just my 2 cents.

You don't actually trash your dress per se. From what I've read and heard from some photographers your dress actually gets really dirty at your wedding from dancing and walking around in it. The bottom is filthy so at the "trash" your dress session in the water the dress actually come out cleaner and can be used again. Im still debating if im going to do this, the pictures are pretty cool.

  • 3 weeks later...

I definitely plan on doing a TTD session and love how other bride's pics have come out! I'm debating on whether or not to just go online and buy a cheaper dress to use for the session or to just go with my actual dress from the ceremony.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
